Chapter 39: Members of the Adriel Squad
Added 2024-04-25 13:49:32 +0000 UTCAfter emerging from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber on Earth, Xavier's power level had skyrocketed to over 12,000. With over a year of steady accumulation, he had solidified his foundation immensely; it was time to unleash this potential and break through once again.
He urgently needed a gravity chamber, ideally one that could adjust temperature, air pressure, gravity, and other parameters simultaneously.
This required the assistance of a high-tech civilization. Though there were many technologically adept aliens on Planet Vegeta, Xavier was wary of using them because their loyalties lay either with Frieza or King Vegeta. There was a risk that no sooner would the gravity chamber be completed than he would be betrayed.
"The gravity chamber must be constructed as soon as possible. The next mission will involve a high-tech planet!"
Xavier massaged his temples gently with both hands.
With so many Senzu Beans in his possession, it would be a waste not to combine them with gravity training. The combination of Senzu Beans, a gravity device, and his Saiyan physiology made him envision a rapid escalation in his abilities.
He felt a burning desire within, eager to conclude his mission and return to Planet Vegeta.
...
Five days later, at the same old crash site of their spaceship.
The Saiyans gathered once again, having completed the extermination mission on Planet Dadoria. There were no longer any life forms on the planet with a combat strength over 100.
Though only a dozen days had passed, they had faced countless battles. Planet Dadoria was close to being a mid-level planet, and the enemies Shakda and the others faced were nearly as formidable as they were. Although their battles were fraught with danger, their combat strengths had increased tangibly.
Even Belit, who had the lowest power level among them, had now reached 810, an increase of 70 points. Shakda, the strongest among them, had surged to a power level of 1030, largely due to the strength of the opponents he chose.
Such improvements over just a few days put everyone in great spirits, even Rida and Belit, who were usually at odds, now joked with each other like good buddies.
Xavier looked around with satisfaction at his teammates, their faces aglow with health and laughter filling the air. A smile crept across his face as he announced, "Alright, our mission is successfully completed. Everyone has enhanced their strength considerably. It's time to head back to Planet Vegeta!"
"Yes, it's time to go back," echoed the team.
"Captain, make sure the next mission is a better one. You know how worried I was this time... I feared we might not complete it!" Belit pleaded, his face etched with concern.
"Heh heh!"
"As for me, I don’t have any specific requests regarding the missions. I’m actually looking forward to our next adventure with you, Captain," Atasya said, looking up with a laugh, her wavy hair dancing in the breeze, her tall frame and cheerful smile giving her a mature aura.
Jelin stood quietly to the side, her cheeks glistening with sweat in the hot air, but her sparkling eyes showed she too was eagerly anticipating the next challenge.
"Don’t worry, the next mission won't disappoint you," Xavier chuckled. He then leapt gracefully onto a spherical spacecraft lodged in the center of a crater, its surface rough and scorched, partially buried in the sand.
"Let’s go, back to Planet Vegeta!" shouted Celine, jumping down after him.
The rest of the team exchanged looks and climbed into their own craft. Moments later, seven white spheres soared into the air, rapidly accelerating until they shot out of Planet Dadoria's gravitational pull and disappeared into the quiet depths of space.
A month later, on Planet Vegeta, the stars shone brightly overhead in the night sky.
The team disembarked at the spaceport and headed straight for the nearest mission control, a domed three-story building inhabited by the notoriously surly Tuffles. After submitting their report for the mission on Planet Dadoria, the team members prepared to part ways.
"Captain, I live in the northern district of the city. Just contact me through the communicator if you need me," Shakda said earnestly before departing, thoroughly impressed by Xavier, his captain who was three years his junior.
Not every Saiyan possesses leadership qualities, but those who can command not only possess strength but must also maintain composure under pressure. Xavier had demonstrated these qualities flawlessly throughout the mission, a testament to his strategic acumen, which was crucial for the team's long-term success.
"Ah, Jelin and I live nearby, quite close to where you live, Captain!" Atasya adjusted her battle suit and playfully hooked her arm around Jelin’s neck.
"Mm," Jelin responded softly as always.
Only Rida looked downcast. "It’s just me who lives the farthest. It's going to be a long flight..."
"Haha, well then, see you all next time. I’ll contact you for the next mission," Xavier said with a hearty laugh, grabbing Celine's hand to bid farewell to the team before flying towards home.
It was night, and the residential area was exceptionally quiet except for the bright lights swaying in the darkness and the soft, delicate chirping of insects.
Upon arriving home, Xavier was surprised to find the lights still on in the hall. In the living room, besides Mr. and Mrs. Adriel, there were four other Saiyans, two men and two women!
Xavier recognized them all; they were former members of the Adriel squad. By relation, Xavier should address them as uncles and aunts.
Rebecca looked at Xavier and Celine with a hint of surprise, asking, "Weren’t you two off on a mid-level mission? How did you get back so quickly?"
"Of course, we've already completed the mission!" Celine said proudly, then shouted to the four Saiyans in the room, "Uncle Belruk, Aunt Lize..."
"Uncle Paradis, Aunt Alice, hello!"
Xavier greeted each of them warmly. These individuals were once members of the Adriel squad. After the squad was disbanded, most of them took positions at training camps, proving to be thoroughly reliable allies.
The Adriel squad originally had thirteen members. Years ago, during a mission, they were ambushed by enemy forces and suffered heavy casualties; six members were killed in action, including Xavier’s parents, and four were severely injured, leading to the disbandment of the squad by Adriel.
"Oh my, Xavier and Celine, you’ve both grown so much," Alice exclaimed as she approached and hugged them warmly.
Alice was a petite Saiyan woman with a slim figure and ribbon-like long hair. Saiyans have a very prolonged adolescence, so despite being in her thirties, she still looked as vibrant as a young girl.
She appeared to want to convey her care and concern, but her manner was straightforward and robust—a true Amazonian by old Earth standards.
"Oof, Aunt Alice!" Celine complained, finding it difficult to breathe due to the pressure against her chest.
"Hehe," Alice chuckled and finally released her, still keeping one arm tightly around her shoulders.
The others greeted warmly too; Belruk nodded coolly, his greeting as icy and minimalistic as ever, fitting his stoic demeanor.
