Chapter 31: Adriel's Caution

"How do you feel? Sick of the Tuffles's attitude yet?" Xavier felt a light tap on his shoulder and turned around to see it was Uncle Adriel approaching.

Adriel smiled and said, "You really shouldn’t bother about what those Tuffles say. Those guys always have such foul mouths. If it weren’t for the fact that they are dispatched from Frieza's headquarters, their unreasonable attitude towards Saiyans would have gotten them killed on Planet Vegeta many times over."

"Hmm, it's better to have as little contact with them as possible to avoid bad luck!" Adriel's words were filled with disgust towards the Tuffles.

However, since their backing was Frieza himself, and they controlled the communication channels between Planet Vegeta and Frieza's planet, many commands had to be relayed through them. Thus, the Saiyans had no choice but to endure the Tuffles's arrogant behavior for the time being.

But this account would have to be settled sooner or later. Unbeknownst to the Tuffles, they were digging their own graves with their imperious attitude towards the Saiyans.

So you knew all about the Tuffles's behavior, Xavier thought, rolling his eyes after hearing Uncle Adriel's explanation.

No wonder you went swimming instead of submitting the mission with us. You just didn’t want to see them!

"By the way, I'm taking Merus out on a mission tomorrow, and it's likely we won’t be back for a long time. If you have any issues with your missions, you can ask Rebecca. She has completed many challenging missions in the Adriel squad before and can provide you with some guidance."

Adriel was thorough in his instructions.

"Alright, got it."

"Don't worry, if we don’t understand something, we'll ask Mom."

Reassured by Adriel's advice, Xavier and Celine readily agreed. They were used to Adriel frequently leading missions since they were young, often leaving for several months at a time.

"Uncle Adriel, which planet are you heading to this time, and how long will you be away?" Xavier asked.

After some thought, Adriel replied, "The mission is quite close to Planet Vegeta, on the neighboring Red Rock Planet. It should only take about a month round trip."

"A month, that's pretty quick," Xavier mused internally.

Red Rock Planet was very close to Planet Vegeta; a spacecraft could reach it within a few days. It was the nearest habitable planet to Planet Vegeta, naturally under Saiyan control. Consequently, it served as one of the few training bases for young Saiyans, specifically designed for elite warriors, not something afforded to ordinary low or mid-level warriors.

"Uncle Adriel, I have something for you!" Xavier said after a moment of contemplation.

He reached into his chest pocket and pulled out a small brown bag. Under Adriel’s puzzled gaze, he filled it with several flat, dried beans. Celine watched quietly, understanding Xavier's intentions as soon as he started packing the beans, her delicate face breaking into an enchanting smile.

"What are these?" Adriel asked, examining the small bag handed to him.

Celine quickly intervened, urging Adriel to secure the beans, "Dad, you really need to keep these safe! They can save your life when it matters."

Now more puzzled than ever, Adriel looked at the dried, flat items, wondering if these unassuming items were some kind of treasure, given his daughter's urgent insistence.

Celine explained, "They're called Senzu Beans. No matter how severe your injuries, as long as you’re still breathing, eating one will immediately restore you to your peak condition. They’re really valuable!"

Celine repeated the specific effects of the Senzu Beans.

"There really is such a miraculous thing in this world!" Adriel exclaimed in surprise after hearing her explanation, his gaze fixed on the beans in his hand. He didn't doubt the truth of Celine's words, but rather realized the profound significance behind these unassuming beans.

As a veteran Saiyan warrior who had faced death numerous times, he was acutely aware of the value of a medicine that could rapidly heal injuries on the battlefield—it was akin to having an extra life, and could potentially turn the tide of an entire battle.

Without any hesitation, he carefully stored the small bag of Senzu Beans.

Then, Adriel said earnestly, "It’s best if the existence of these Senzu Beans remains between us. Do not divulge this to others, as it could lead to endless trouble."

Wealth could tempt hearts, especially something as valuable as these life-saving beans in critical moments. The fewer people knew this secret, the better, as it was not advisable to let it spread.

Xavier understood this without needing Adriel's reminder. He had brought out the Senzu Beans with the intention of looking after those close to him, not to broadcast their existence widely. Although it seemed like he had many beans, each one used was one less available—they had to be used judiciously.

He was naturally generous with his family, but not so with others.

"Only the three of us know about the Senzu Beans, and I don’t plan to reveal them. But I think the situation for the Saiyans is very dangerous now. King Vegeta’s actions will only make Frieza lose patience faster, and then the real danger to the Saiyans might begin…"

This wasn't the first time Xavier had mentioned Frieza’s potential malice towards the Saiyans. Hearing this, Adriel’s expression grew grave, opting to believe the possibility rather than dismiss it.

He pondered for a moment and then said, "If Frieza really intends to move against the Saiyans, with our current strength, we definitely won’t be able to cope. It looks like we need to find a way out."

"By the way, those energy detectors we use are actually fitted with listening devices—it's clear they mean no good for the Saiyans!" Celine, who had been listening quietly, suddenly chimed in.

This detail about the detectors could be discovered by any moderately tech-savvy alien with a careful inspection.

"What did you say? They've installed listening devices on the detectors?" Upon hearing that Frieza had installed listening devices on the energy detectors used by the Saiyans, Adriel, not a fool, immediately grasped the seriousness of the matter.

What is Frieza planning? Does he truly distrust the Saiyans that much?

Adriel's expression darkened dramatically, and his energy surged uncontrollably, creating a storm-like aura around him. The once calm sea surface churned into tumultuous waves under the force of his power.

Waves of energy buffeted against them, and his black hair whipped wildly in the wind.

Xavier watched in astonishment. The sheer force emanating from Adriel suggested that his power level had reached at least 8000, a notably formidable level of strength.

After a while, Adriel let out a long sigh, dissipating the intense aura around him. Calmness returned, as if the turbulent scene moments before had been nothing more than a fleeting dream.
