Chapter 28: The Future of the Saiyans

Recalling the original story, Xavier remembered that Planet Vegeta was destroyed when Prince Vegeta was around five or six years old—probably five. He now needed to keep an eye on Bardock's family; by his estimate, Goku's elder brother Raditz should have already been born.
The day Goku was born was the very day Frieza attacked Planet Vegeta. However, Xavier found it frustrating that Bardock's family did not live in the same area as him, making it difficult to obtain any information about them in the immediate future.
"Moreover, it's undeniable that Vegeta is one of the top geniuses among the Saiyans. His power level was already so high at birth and is expected to break 500 in a few months. Tsk, having over 500 power level at just over two years old... If he continues to develop at this rate, he might reach 1000 before Planet Vegeta is destroyed. No wonder Frieza took him as a hostage for research on the Super Saiyan..."
Xavier silently did the math.
Following this storyline, Vegeta's power would definitely surpass 10,000 by adulthood, which was consistent with the original narrative. In other words, his 'butterfly effect' had yet to induce any changes to the plot.
This was to be expected; after all, his own status among the Saiyans was inconsequential. Furthermore, having left Planet Vegeta at a young age, his potential to influence events was indeed limited.
Reflecting on his own training journey, Xavier felt a mix of emotions.
Vegeta's starting point was far higher than his own, yet the timeline for both reaching 1000 power level was nearly identical. Xavier had broken the 1000 mark at just over five years old, much like how Vegeta in the original story was able to defeat Saibamen at around the same age. The timing of their breakthroughs was similar, but in reality, Xavier had a lead since he had worked his way up from a power level of less than 100.
Their power gap had starkly widened, thanks to Xavier's experiences training on Earth and in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, pushing his power level to break past 10,000, a feat Vegeta only achieved in adulthood.
"If I hadn't chosen Earth, but returned to Planet Vegeta, who knows if King Vegeta’s eyes would be on me by now…" Xavier mused, proud of his foresight. Life had no place for what-ifs, and now, even if King Vegeta wanted him gone swiftly and decisively, he lacked the means.
"By the way, Uncle Adriel, what do you think of Frieza's attitude towards us Saiyans?" Xavier asked deliberately.
Caught off guard, Adriel looked at him in surprise, furrowing his brow after a moment’s thought. "Lord Frieza truly rules the universe, and we Saiyans have always thrived under his command. However, his attitude towards us…"
"Cold, even disdainful!"
Adriel knew too well. The Saiyans allied with Frieza out of mutual necessity; the Saiyans' belligerence found refuge in the networks woven by Frieza, who in turn valued their lust for battle, treating them like mere tools. To speak of any real affection between them would be fanciful.
Adriel had long recognized Frieza's true nature, aware that to the universal emperor, Saiyans were but mere pawns. But even he didn’t fully grasp the depth of Frieza’s disdain, which bordered on a malevolent desire for their destruction.
"What worries me," Adriel continued cautiously, halting mid-sentence, "is that King Vegeta also harbors deep resentment towards Frieza, looming above him. I fear the king might eventually lead the Saiyans in a rebellion!" Realizing the sensitivity of the topic, he stopped.
Xavier stared at Uncle Adriel in astonishment, impressed by the rugged man’s ability to discern the essence of such complex issues—a rare trait among Saiyans.
"What if King Vegeta really does start a revolt?" Rebecca asked worriedly. With their opponent being the so-called emperor of the universe, could the Saiyans truly hope to prevail? And if they failed, what would become of them?
"If we can't win, we could always run!" Celine said nonchalantly.
"What foolishness! How can Saiyans flee without fighting? Would we even be Saiyans then?" Adriel scolded, frowning deeply.
Yet, Xavier felt Celine had a point. "There's wisdom in preserving our forces for future battles," he thought, realizing he should prepare Adriel and Rebecca for strategic moves, facilitating his own future actions. He voiced his concern, "But I've heard that Frieza harbors ill intentions toward us Saiyans. He keeps us close merely because he fears the emergence of a legendary Super Saiyan, who could potentially threaten his reign."
"A legendary Super Saiyan, huh? That's just a myth!" Adriel chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. Though tales of such a being circulated among their people, no one had ever witnessed a Super Saiyan. Over time, belief in the legend had dwindled.
"Yet, your point stands; Saiyans and Frieza cannot coexist peacefully! King Vegeta must have been preparing for this for a long time," Adriel muttered thoughtfully.
"Sadly, they underestimate Frieza's true strength. This rebellion is doomed to fail! And its failure will likely lead to the destruction of Planet Vegeta," Xavier pondered, his mind racing with myriad thoughts.
...
The next day dawned bright and sunny.
After a restful sleep, Xavier rose early and started his routine workout in the backyard. Though the low-intensity exercise did little to enhance his strength, he meticulously executed each movement out of habit. Soon, Celine joined him, and they sparred back and forth, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
A strong whirlwind kicked up in the yard, bending the surrounding vegetation slightly.
After a while, as the sun climbed higher, they stopped their movements, standing still with calm and steady breathing, as if they hadn’t exerted themselves at all. Their earlier activity barely counted as a warm-up.
Inside, Rebecca was preparing breakfast, and the delicious aroma wafted outside. Celine, enticed by the smell, gleamed with anticipation and dashed toward the kitchen, leaving Xavier alone.
"Such a glutton!" Xavier murmured softly. With Celine gone, he sat quietly on a stone bench in the corner of the backyard, closing his eyes to meditate.
The tinkling sound of bells approached.
"Hey, you there, is Master Adriel at home?" a haughty voice called out.
Xavier opened his eyes, a spark flickering in his dark pupils as he saw a small figure in a tiny battle suit entering his view.
"Hey, I'm talking to you, did you hear me?" the figure grew impatient, her voice becoming shrill.
"If you want to ask something, you should do so politely. I won't respond with that attitude," Xavier said, closing his eyes again, showing no interest in engaging further.
"You..."
The figure hesitated, then huffed arrogantly, "Hmph, I see. So you're that mid-level warrior from Master Adriel's house. Just so you know, I'm a high-ranking warrior, not someone you can afford to offend. If it weren’t for you guys, Master Adriel would have taken me on a mission today!"
So, she was just a bratty Saiyan kid under Uncle Adriel’s tutelage!
