Chapter 24: Mutaito

This island was a modern city, where the sea breeze carried the unique moist vapor of the ocean, enriching the urban landscape.
The crystal-clear seawaters merged with the sky, creating a shimmering vista of seamless blue. Here, one could gaze upon the blue sea and sky, and listen to the soothing sounds of the waves.
Along a quaint cobblestone path lined with blooming peach trees, the vivid red petals smiled like a charming young girl, bringing a sense of fragrant tranquility.
Walking on this serene and beautiful path, Celine’s face lit up with joy as she exclaimed to her companion, “Look at how beautiful this scenery is! Should we set up a home here? After completing our missions, we could stay here for a while!”
Her fondness for this place was likely influenced by Earth’s culinary delights and the stunning views before her.
“Haha, let’s make it our home then!” Xavier spread his hands, indulging her whims. Ever since Celine had grown up, she had become increasingly independent, no longer calling him "brother" but using his name directly after emerging from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Sighing, Xavier felt the pangs of nostalgia as children grow and seek their independence.
Standing atop a peak, overlooking the entire island, Xavier suddenly felt a sense of déjà vu, as if he had seen this place before.
Although it was his first visit to Earth, he recognized it from the stories. Xavier found a bookstore and purchased a guidebook about the island city, finally pinpointing the location.
“This is the very island where Goku trained with Master Roshi!” he exclaimed in surprise.
Described as an island, it was technically a peninsula, partly connected to the mainland.
The original saga mentioned a few famous islands: the first being Master Roshi’s Kame House, the second where Goku and Krillin trained under Master Roshi by farming and delivering milk, and the others included the locations of the 22nd and 23rd World Martial Arts Tournaments on Papaya Island and the Southeast Island, respectively, along with the Southern City island featured in the Android saga.
“If this is the island where Goku and others will train in the future, could it be that Kame House is nearby? What a
While it's called an island, it's actually more of a peninsula, partly connected to the mainland. In the original story, there are only a few famous islands. The first is Kame House, where Master Roshi lives. The second is the island where Goku and Krillin, having become Master Roshi's disciples, undertook their daily chores of farming and delivering milk as part of their training. The third and fourth are Papaya Island and Southeast Island, the venues for the 22nd and 23rd World Martial Arts Tournaments, respectively. Lastly, there's the southern city island featured in the Android Saga.
"If this is going to be the island where Goku and the others train in the future, then Kame House must be nearby! What a coincidence!" A smile flickered across Xavier's face as he found himself unexpectedly near the island where Master Roshi resided. However, he had no intention of disturbing Master Roshi.
For one, his mission on Earth was nearly accomplished, having acquired a good supply of Senzu Beans and training methods, making a visit to Master Roshi unnecessary. Secondly, even if he did meet Master Roshi, the martial master's frail strength would offer him no benefits, so he decided against visiting.
Next, to meet Celine's request, Xavier marked out a plot of land on a hillside of the small island and constructed a simple wooden hut.
As the sun rose, bathing the island in bright sunlight, the warm, gentle rays sprinkled over the cobblestones and between the blades of grass, creating a misty, vibrant spectacle in the light. The rosy peach blossoms bloomed like a young girl's smiling face, adding enchanting beauty to the island.
A verdant, low hilltop with a cobblestone path meandered following the contours of the hill. A stream emerged from the rocks at the mountain's peak, nourishing the water plants along its banks before converging into a babbling, clear spring.
"Ha, it has been many years since I visited Earth, and I am amazed at how much technology has advanced," remarked a silver-haired, bearded old man from a shaded spot on a hillside, wearing a white martial arts uniform with a red "Martial" character on the upper left corner. Curiously, a golden halo floated above his head, a mark of the deceased, indicating that he was a soul from the Other World.
The Other World is a magical place, connected to both Heaven and Hell, with the incredible Snake Way linking it to the higher dimensional King Kai's planet.
Souls arriving in the Other World, no matter how powerful or prominent in life, are judged by King Yemma. Those judged favorably may ascend to Heaven, the wicked are cast into Hell, and those neither good nor evil are reincarnated.
Only those who achieved great deeds or who were virtuous in life possess a halo, signifying their eligibility to ascend to Heaven.
This white-haired elder is far from ordinary; he is the legendary martial arts master, Mutaito, who defeated the formidable demon King Piccolo, saving the world three centuries ago. He is also the master of both Master Roshi and Master Shen.
Three centuries ago, after sealing away the great demon King Piccolo, Mutaito expended his life force and died. With his monumental achievements, he could have ascended directly to Heaven, yet he chose to remain in the Other World. Today marks Mutaito's return to the mortal realm, before he undergoes the cycle of reincarnation.
Upon his return, Mutaito did not seek out his two disciples, Master Roshi and Master Shen. Instead, he silently wandered through various cities, eventually finding himself in this coastal island city. Observing the prosperity and peace that now flourished on Earth, joy filled Mutaito’s heart, especially upon learning that his disciples had each established their own martial schools, becoming renowned grandmasters.
At that moment, two youthful figures on the mountain path caught his attention—a young man and woman. Mutaito felt a stirring energy from them that ignited his warrior spirit.
“Young friends, may I ask from which school you have learned such formidable skills at such young ages?”
Following the voice, Xavier turned around in surprise to see a silver-haired, bearded elder smiling at them. “Who is this old man? His energy is far stronger than Kami’s!”
Sensing the robust power emanating from him, Xavier was taken aback; the energy was nearly at a power level of 6000. It was rare to encounter such a formidable figure on Earth. The large “Martial” character on his uniform and the ethereal golden halo above his head made Xavier’s expression shift, as he guessed the elder’s identity.
“Could it be Master Roshi’s teacher, Mutaito? Indeed, only Mutaito could possess such tremendous power. It appears he did not cease his training even while in the Other World,” Xavier surmised confidently.
It is said that those who accomplish great deeds in life may continue their training with their physical bodies after death, a rarity Mutaito now embodied. Having trained in Heaven for three hundred years to reach a power level of 6000 seemed fitting.
“Sir, are you Mutaito?”
Mutaito was taken aback, not expecting that someone would still recognize his name today. He responded with a touch of surprise, “Young friend, you know of me?”
