Chapter 23: Feasting on Delights
Added 2024-04-23 19:37:45 +0000 UTCKami couldn't help but feel sentimental. In just a few days, their power had changed so drastically. Could the innate talent of extraterrestrials be so formidable? It was astonishing how quickly their strength had escalated.
"Ha, these past few days have really benefited from Mr. Popo's guidance. Otherwise, we wouldn't have improved so swiftly," Xavier said cheerfully. Then, glancing at Celine, he added, "Oh, and Celine's tail needs some attention from Kami too!"
"Tail?"
Upon hearing Xavier mention the tail, Celine shifted her gaze to his back, surprised to see that his tail had vanished.
Xavier explained, "Kami's magic is truly miraculous. It works like a switch, sealing away the tail. And given our current philosophy of 'simplifying things' in our training, having a tail is more of a burden than a benefit, so it's better sealed away."
Xavier explained, "Kami's magic is quite remarkable, almost like flipping a switch—it can seal the tail. And, given our current philosophy of 'simplicity in all things,' having a tail is more of a hindrance than a help. It's better to have it sealed."
"Uh-huh!" Celine blinked, indicating she understood, though she couldn't help but wonder if cutting off her tail would hurt.
Xavier merely flashed a grin, seized her fuzzy tail, and with a swift motion, severed it.
Celine furrowed her brow slightly and shot a glare back at him. Following suit, Kami replicated the magic he used to seal Xavier, casting a spell to seal Celine's Saiyan tail as well.
Kami was more than willing to undertake this task, as it was but a minor effort for him, and he knew that the more they accepted his aid now, the more they would be ready to assist Earth in times of need. Earth would still need their reliance in many ways in the future.
After sealing the Saiyan tail, Celine curiously moved around and discovered that it did not affect her power, and even made her techniques feel lighter. She contentedly smiled at this realization.
“Alright, time for us to go…”
Concealing their energy and compressing their power levels to around eight or nine hundred, Xavier bid farewell to Kami and Mr. Popo, then grabbed Celine’s hand and leapt down from the temple.
As they pierced through the dense clouds below, they greeted Korin upon reaching Korin Tower and continued their descent along its slender structure. Soon, the expansive sight of Korin’s Sacred Land unfolded at the horizon.
“Where are we heading now, not back to Planet Salma?” Celine asked, her brow creased as she gazed at the endless dense forest and turned to Xavier.
Xavier’s dark eyes gazed into the distance, a unique spark in his deep look. He shook his head, “No, life needs a balance of work and leisure. Mere continuous training won’t bring better enlightenment. We've been training independently for many years; it’s time to experience living among humans. It might even aid the growth of our energy. Plus, I’ve heard that the food on Earth is incredibly delicious. I plan to live here for a while; what do you think?”
“Sounds good!”
Since Xavier felt that way, Celine had no objections. They had lived on Planet Salma for so long without interacting with civilization; it might be worthwhile to experience life on Earth now, not to mention the delicious food.
However, before all that, they needed to acquire some funds for daily expenses, and Xavier knew just the place: a pirate’s treasure trove hidden beneath the sea. This was the same treasure trove that Goku and General Blue of the Red Ribbon Army had once entered during their conflict.
Though that part of the story was many years away, the treasures must have started accumulating by now!
With that, he took Celine’s hand and activated Instant Transmission, vanishing from Korin’s Sacred Land.
After their significant increase in strength, Xavier found that his spatial abilities had also enhanced, making Instant Transmission even more effortless. However, his temporal powers, although the first to awaken, had yet to break new ground, probably due to the mysterious nature of time abilities.
Over the northern hemisphere of Earth, hovering above a vast azure ocean, Xavier and Celine materialized in midair.
"Is the treasure you spoke of really here?" Celine asked skeptically, gazing out at the tumultuous, majestic ocean before them.
"Of course, I saw it clearly from the temple; it should be nearby," Xavier improvised, relying on his memory to start the search.
After several circuits flying over the sea area, he roughly pinpointed the location. Then, diving down with a splash, he penetrated the ocean surface and quickly found the entrance to the treasure based on his recollections.
Entering the pirate's underwater treasury, they found that the traps set up by the pirates were still quite rudimentary. Avoiding these, they easily reached the chamber filled with gold and silver treasures, indeed stocked with several chests shimmering with gold—all plundered by the pirates.
Gazing at the pile of gold and silver treasures before him, Xavier grinned and waved his hand, ripping a rift in the void to suck all the treasures into it.
After securing the loot, he clapped his hands and said, "Let's go to the city and convert this gold and silver into currency. Brother will treat you to the finest delicacies. Trust me, no one in the universe appreciates gourmet food quite like Earthlings. The food here is simply divine..."
"What are we waiting for then? Let's get going!" The allure of fine dining instantly captivated the young girl, urging him to depart quickly.
From that point on, a rumor circulated in Earth's culinary circles about a young couple who had swept through numerous eateries until the chefs collapsed from exhaustion, leading to a longstanding reluctance among restaurants to offer buffet promotions.
Meanwhile, the instigators of this chaos were contentedly munching away, surrounded by the clatter of chopsticks and the clinking of plates, their table stacked with towering piles of dishes.
"Waiter, bring us another serving of roast pig."
"And another portion of mixed sauce noodles!"
"I'll have another lamb shank!"
Xavier called out loudly with his plate extended, but the restaurant owner, trembling and sweating, approached and said, "Dear guests, our kitchen really has run out of ingredients. Perhaps, you could try another restaurant..."
"Out of stock already?" Xavier's expression darkened at the sight of the owner's sweaty demeanor, then he waved dismissively, "Come on, you're in business; how can you not be prepared with enough ingredients?"
"Right, right!" The owner wiped his sweat and nodded vigorously, thinking to himself, "What you ate is enough to supply our restaurant for a week."
After settling the bill, Xavier and Celine left the premises, leaving the exhausted owner to collapse in relief as they disappeared. Nearby waitstaff hurried to help him up, but the owner, irritable, snapped, "What are you waiting for? Clean up and close the place. I'm shutting down for a week... no, a month. Just pray these two patrons leave soon..."
Xavier and Celine stayed in the city for over ten days, sampling the offerings of every restaurant. Each establishment seemed to mourn their arrival, wearing expressions as if someone had died.
It wasn't that they didn't want to earn money, but serving such guests was simply too exhausting. Moreover, their presence made it impossible to attend to other customers, jeopardizing the long-term business of these eateries.
"Celine, see? I told you, Earth's food is the most delicious," Xavier remarked proudly.
"Uh-huh!" The girl nodded vigorously, her recent binge being the most indulgent dining experience of her life. "Xavier, since you can store things in a dimensional space, why not try preserving some food?"
This suggestion sparked an idea in Xavier, realizing that his spatial abilities could indeed be used to store food.
"Then let's go shopping; once we leave Earth, we won't be able to enjoy such delicious food anymore."
Thus, they spent the following period busily purchasing food. It turned out that Xavier's spatial abilities could indeed preserve food, and with time nearly halted within this space, the food could be stored indefinitely without spoiling.
This capability only intensified their already voracious appetite. They spent all their money, and after two months, they had used all the gold and silver acquired from the pirate treasure to buy enough food to last them three to four years of frenzied eating.
Considering the famously large appetites of Saiyans, the sheer volume of food it took to satisfy them for several years was unimaginable.
