Chapter 11: Two Superpowers
Added 2024-04-23 12:53:29 +0000 UTCAs time marched on and months swiftly passed, the landscape itself transformed under the power of time.
The once-devastated valley began to sprout greenery again. Though not as dense as the original forest, it now buzzed with a fresh vitality.
In these four months, leveraging the resilient vitality and robust recovery abilities inherent to Saiyans, Xavier had completely healed from his injuries. His broken bones had mended, and his physique had grown even more robust.
After a near-fatal battle four months ago, Xavier's strength had soared dramatically. In just this short period, his combat power had escalated to a staggering 1700, an inconceivable feat for a Saiyan not yet six years old.
However, the greatest gains for Xavier over these months were not in his combat power but in his development of new superpowers. After continued research, he had confirmed the existence of two distinct superpowers within himself.
The first was the time-related ability "Time Freeze" that he had discovered earlier. This power could halt time within a specific area for up to three seconds.
The larger the area and the more powerful the opponent, the greater the energy consumed. At his peak condition, he could freeze targets with a combat power of under 10000 for three seconds, but doing so would completely drain his energy reserves.
This ability was to be Xavier's trump card, reserved for critical moments only.
The second superpower, as he had suspected, was related to space. After some development, he had achieved the ability to perform "Instant Transmission" within a ten-kilometer radius. However, being a newly developed skill, it was still imperfect in many aspects.
On this particular day, while Xavier was practicing his "Instant Transmission," he saw Celine approaching from the horizon. She was flying toward him, holding aloft a wild boar many times her size, her arms raised triumphantly and her voice echoing with joyful cheers.
With a loud thud, the wild boar hit the ground, creating a muffled sound.
"Xavier brother, this is what I just caught, I want to eat roast suckling pig today!" Celine came over and grabbed Xavier's arm.
"Alright, alright, you get your way, but after this you need to train hard. If you don't meet the target, I won't make delicious food for you anymore."
Upon hearing that there might not be more delicious food, Celine puffed her cheeks and a look of dissatisfaction appeared in her eyes: "Understood!"
Xavier smiled accommodatingly, then skillfully sliced open the boar, removed its innards and fur, washed it, set it up on a stand, and secured it with wood. With a "puff!", a Ki blast shot from his fingertips, instantly igniting the firewood in the stove. Soon, the enticing aroma of the pork began to fill the air.
When it was almost cooked, Xavier sprinkled some unique spices from Selma planet, and soon a delicious roast suckling pig was ready.
Celine's eyes lit up as she watched, unable to care about the heat, she reached out, cut off a large chunk of the roast, and started tearing into it with big bites.
"Xavier brother, when are we going back to Planet Vegeta?" Celine asked while chewing, missing her parents on Planet Vegeta.
Xavier wiped his mouth, put down the food in his hand, and said, "Originally, according to our mission plan, we could return to Planet Vegeta after wiping out the indigenous people of Selma planet. However, I think if we go back so soon, it might lead to some disadvantages for us!"
"What could be disadvantageous to us?" Celine asked with a puzzled face.
Xavier sighed and explained, "Look at how young we are, and how high our combat powers have already reached. As Saiyans, being part of a warrior race doesn't mean the higher the strength, the better, as there are many political issues involved. If we are too prominent, even Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Adriel won't be able to protect us."
At this point, Xavier's combat power had reached 1700, and Celine's was at 1080, and they were still in their childhood! They hadn't even entered the rapid growth phase of Saiyan strength and were already this powerful, which indicated that by the time they reached adulthood, their power would certainly surpass 10000 combat strength.
Just as the Saiyan race was entering its golden era, the trajectory of their future growth was almost unimaginable.
Would King Vegeta truly be pleased with this scenario?
Even King Vegeta himself only possessed a battle power slightly over 10,000—clearly, a burgeoning threat to his dominion.
On Planet Vegeta, those elite warriors who had surpassed a battle power of 10,000 were mostly over thirty years of age and had nearly exhausted their potential; these were the individuals King Vegeta felt comfortable utilizing.
Should your power grow enough to threaten him, he would undoubtedly bare his fangs and eliminate you as soon as possible.
King Vegeta, perceiving Broly’s immense potential as a direct threat to his rule, did not hesitate to order the execution of Broly and his father. It wouldn’t be far-fetched for him to similarly target Xavier and others for the same reason. Even if he couldn’t act openly, arranging a ‘special’ mission to discreetly dispose of them was all too easy.
Celine had absolute faith in Xavier, so after hearing his words, her expression grew deeply furrowed.
“But King Vegeta isn't really my concern; what worries me the most is that fiend, Frieza.”
“Frieza?”
After a moment, Celine remembered that Frieza was indeed the overlord the Saiyans were sworn to serve.
“Brother, why worry about Frieza? Could he really pose a threat to us?” Celine’s eyes flashed fiercely as she spoke.
Xavier’s expression turned grave as he nodded, “Yes, Frieza is sinister and cold-hearted, always wary of us Saiyans for fear that a legendary Super Saiyan might emerge from our ranks. If it weren’t for his interest in studying the Super Saiyan phenomenon, he wouldn’t have allowed our race to survive until now.”
“So, it seems our first challenge upon returning might not be King Vegeta but Frieza himself, and King Vegeta would probably be pleased by that.”
“What do we do then?” Frieza, who claimed to be the emperor of the universe, was undoubtedly powerful.
“Don’t worry too much!” Xavier gently ruffled the girl's hair, smiling. “I know of a place where we can learn to control our inner energy. Once we can disguise our power levels, no one will be able to detect us.”
“Really?”
"Of course, we should also use energy detectors less frequently, as Frieza might have installed listening devices on them."
Seeing Celine nod seriously, Xavier smiled, knowing she had taken his words to heart.
Having been in the Dragon Ball universe for over five years, Xavier felt no real connection to the Saiyans, except for his care for the couple Rebecca and Celine.
After dinner, at Xavier's insistence, Celine began her training. Although their self-taught training methods were rudimentary, they significantly honed their strength—perhaps driven by the pressure, Celine trained harder than usual.
Xavier, meanwhile, focused more on developing his psychic abilities, particularly perfecting the "Instant Transmission" technique. This would enable him to travel without spacecraft and evade Frieza's surveillance to reach a cerulean blue planet in the southern part of the North Galaxy—Earth.
His version of "Instant Transmission" differed from the Yardratian technique; one relied solely on psychic powers, while the other was a mystical art developed from extensive cosmic, chaotic, and spatial studies.
Thus, Xavier needed to continually refine his psychic abilities to perfect this technique, somewhat akin to the "Instant Transmission" used by Kibito under the Eastern Supreme Kai.
However, compared to Kibito's "Instant Transmission," Xavier's had a significant drawback: each use required precise knowledge of the spatial coordinates between the departure point and destination. Any error could result in becoming lost in the vastness of space.
Scientifically, his psychic power essentially opened a wormhole between two points in space, allowing for instantaneous travel.
"When the opportunity arises, I'll also integrate the Yardratian Instant Transmission into my skillset."
The Yardratian method, which utilizes "Ki" to determine positioning, has clear advantages. Although limited by the sensitivity to Ki, it consumes no energy when activated, a feat Xavier's spatial psychic abilities could not achieve. Each technique had its own merits.
