Chapter 1: The Saiyan, Xavier
Added 2024-04-17 11:48:09 +0000 UTCIn an endless expanse shrouded in unyielding darkness, Xavier could not recall how long he had been lingering there—was it a year, two years, or even longer? The passage of time had become a blur to him.
Since his arrival, he had been aimlessly drifting in this boundless void, unable to see any horizon. Tiny orbs of light, some bright, some dim, floated past him. Xavier struggled to approach these fleeting beacons of light, but as soon as he neared them, they would vanish swiftly into the darkness.
He did not understand why he pursued these lights, driven only by a primal urge to escape this oppressive darkness.
In his previous life, Xavier was an ordinary office worker, adhering to the monotonous nine-to-five routine, hustling through the city like everyone else.
One day, as usual, he left work thinking of treating himself to some market finds for dinner. However, at that moment, a piece of tempered glass from a construction site fell from above and struck him squarely, knocking him unconscious instantly.
When he awoke, he found himself in this strange, dark place.
Xavier, an avid reader of novels, was no stranger to the bizarre fates that befell protagonists. Thus, when he suddenly found himself in this vast expanse of darkness, he quickly came to terms with his situation, even feeling a surge of excitement.
Could it be that his luck had turned, and he had arrived during the legendary Age of Chaos? Was he now to follow the usual tropes, meet mythical figures, and overcome divine challenges?
However, as time passed, Xavier realized that the tales in novels were misleading. Not only did he not encounter any legendary beings or acquire mystical treasures, but he also saw not even a hint of actual light.
Gradually, Xavier came to understand his predicament: this was not the mythical era of abundant resources he had read about but a desolate prison of darkness. Tragically, he was firmly trapped within its confines.
Overwhelmed with despair, Xavier wondered when he would finally be able to escape. "It's about time for a new orb of light to appear. I must put more effort into this attempt; I'm sure I can break free this time!" he encouraged himself, his gaze locked on the darkness ahead.
Suddenly, a dazzling point of light emerged and gradually expanded into an incredibly large orb. Xavier was certain he had never seen such a vast and brilliant orb before. "This is a huge chance. It's now or never if I want to escape this place!" he resolved.
Gritting his teeth, Xavier propelled himself towards the massive orb, the stinging cosmic winds battering his body. The pain that pierced deep into his soul was excruciating, but he clenched his teeth and endured.
"Just a bit further, I'll reach it soon," he muttered. Xavier's face contorted with determination as he moved steadily toward the light, enduring the relentless winds.
As he drew closer, Xavier realized the orb was extraordinarily large, making him feel as insignificant as an ant before it. "Haha, I've finally made it. I can leave this dreadful place," he exclaimed, his face brightening with excitement as he inched closer.
Upon touching the orb, a surge of intense electricity coursed through his body, binding him tightly to the surface of the orb. Severe pain scorched his soul, while a murky current from the darkness rushed towards him, inflicting an unbearable agony that twisted his features.
However, Xavier was unaware that after he lost consciousness, two potent grey energies began to intertwine and refine his soul, rapidly enhancing it. In a flash, his entire being vanished, absorbed into the depths of the gigantic orb.
The murky darkness settled back into a calm, punctuated only by tiny flickering lights that sporadically appeared and vanished in an instant.
...
On Planet Vegeta, in the nursery for infants, a high-tech hub thrummed with activity. This facility, equipped with the most advanced technology, nurtured newborn Saiyans during their early days. Here, based on their innate abilities, they would be assigned to various planets to carry out missions.
Due to its critical importance, King Vegeta had deployed a significant military presence for protection and had also installed state-of-the-art computers for surveillance.
Suddenly, a slight disturbance occurred at one of the nursery beds, and the computer detected an unusual energy signature, triggering a loud buzzing alarm.
"What’s going on?" asked a middle-aged Saiyan guard, rushing over after hearing the alarm to consult with an attendant.
Several aliens, with mouths like crocodiles, quickly checked the computer and then scurried to the bed that had issued the alarm. After closely examining all the data, one replied, "It’s nothing serious. It seems there was a minor glitch in the incubator’s sensor causing the false alarm. We just need to switch to a new incubator."
"That gave me a scare! Your technology from Planet Dodoria isn’t too reliable, is it? Hurry up and switch it out for the kid," the Saiyan guard said mockingly, chiding the attendants to work faster before striding away with a dismissive wave of his arm.
The Dodorian attendants exchanged glances and shook their heads in resignation.
"The lead attendant shouted, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and change the incubator before we really anger the Saiyans and suffer for it."
Spurred by his words, the remaining Dodorians sprang into action. They quickly brought in a new incubator, carefully transferred the Saiyan infant, and then left the nursery cautiously. They continued to monitor all the infant's data meticulously, taking no chances with their duties.
This is the plight of the weak; the people of Planet Dodoria, not particularly strong among the cosmic civilizations, were spared annihilation due to their decent technological prowess after their planet was conquered by the Saiyans. Instead, they were preserved to care for the newborn Saiyan children.
Given the Saiyan's reputation for dominance and cruelty, Dodoria's fate could be considered fortunate compared to other planets that, deemed worthless, saw their native populations completely exterminated and their territories sold off.
After the Saiyan and Dodorian guards left, the Saiyan infant whose incubator had just been changed opened his eyes, revealing an incredible glow of wonder. "Is this Planet Vegeta? Have I really become a Saiyan child?" Xavier expressed in astonishment. He was shocked to find himself in the world of Dragon Ball, reborn as a Saiyan after passing through the massive orb and escaping the dark void. Strangely, he understood the language of the aliens around him.
"What era is it now? How many years until the storyline begins?" This was what Xavier was eager to find out. The fact that Planet Vegeta had not yet been destroyed indicated that the main events had not yet started, but this realization quickly filled him with a sense of urgency.
This was the world of Dragon Ball, where beings powerful enough to pluck stars and destroy planets roamed. Xavier quickly composed himself and pondered his next steps. "First, I need to figure out the era. I wonder how much time remains before the destruction of Planet Vegeta. If there’s ample time, I might be safe; otherwise, it could be dangerous."
Fearing he might not be as fortunate as Goku to escape an apocalyptic catastrophe, Xavier hoped he had enough time left. He then glanced at the transparent data screen on the incubator, which displayed some basic information about the Saiyan child:
- ID: 11379
- Name: Xavier
- Parents: Brent, Beatrice
- Potential: Intermediate
- Power Level: 89
- Assessment: Above average intermediate. Recommended 3 years training on Vegeta before being sent to a lower-level planet.
