Greg's Upbringing and Jasper DEAD?! | Steven Universe Future Episode 15 + 16 REACTION

Greg's Upbringing and Jasper DEAD?! | Steven Universe Future Episode 15 + 16 REACTION

Yeah a much more complex episode than meets the eye. Both sides are right. Both provided but failed each other. Even shows how Greg’s upbringing and his approach is suppose to be “right” and what he thought his children needed. I do give Greg some slack because obviously this intergalactic thing is so unnatural and the gems didn’t really like him in the beginning, single dad, etc. Very great and positively controversial episode

You’re right, that was definitely a David Bowie nod. I love the Ziggy Stardust reference. Seeing Steven react that way to finding out where his name came from was heartbreaking but also understandable. Greg really was stifled and grew up in a prison; it was telling that his parents never opened any of the letters he sent them. However, Steven really should not have been given that much freedom as a kid. That’s why parents have to step in and give kids structure. Thinking back on what Steven internalized as his responsibility, Greg probably should have stepped in stopped it, although the Earth would’ve been destroyed… ack! So hard. Greg should have at least made sure Steven had real human kid experiences and socialize with kids his age… like at least go to school and take him to the doctor, and not have him live in a van before he moved in with the gems. Van life was okay for Greg, but it’s no way to raise a child. I also think Greg and Steven, though both affable and chill, have different temperaments. In MBTI language, Greg is a pure introverted feeler-extroverted sensor… he needs freedom and lax rules or he’d feel chained down. He needs to lead his own path and not be forced to conform to a group. Steven, on the other hand, is an extroverted feeler-introverted sensor… he likes being part of a group/family and he loves routine and structure. You can tell by the way he’s such a gracious host and loved planning weddings and celebrations and stuff. He needed some of direction and guidance that he didn’t get. I think he ended up creating his own routines and he wanted to go on missions just to hang out with the gems and have some feeling of family. So both are right and wrong.

I still can’t believe he shattered jasper, becoming more and more like a diamond, luckily they can restore gems fully now.

Ah yes that’s definitely fair. Though knowing how Greg’s life was, def understandable. But I’ll say that Steven also didn’t want to be sheltered and babied so he also played a role in it 😪. So complicated

Ed

Thing is, Greg wanted freedom, Steven wanted stability. They are both right and wrong. He gave Steven too much freedom.
