The relation I think of is the Black Blades. Mihawk and Ryuma had swords permanently blackened, presumably by Haki, with Shusui being centuries old, so it resembles the knot's function as long-term Haki imbuement. There must be a connection.

2025-12-15 08:28:02 +0000 UTCJack, you HAVE to see the panel of the last part before the title card, where it shows the final saga character start from Akainu to Luffy. It was so iconic. It’s really shame that Toei didn’t animated like that bc Oda intentionally made it into one panel to strengthen which characters are on the One Piece race. In manga, it’s on chapter 1121!
