I have only ever heard Hiyori use "baldy" as a generic insult, I think that's the whole bit. Even other Bleach character's are confused when she calls them baldy if they are not bald.

That's in my opinion why he refuses to go to Urahara or ask the Soul Society directly, and why when he does go to the Vizards he does not 'ask' for help he's pretty much 'ordering' them to help him.
