Kinda hit the nail on the head when it comes to the parallels between arrancar and visored. One is hollow becoming stronger through the use of soul reaper powers, the other is the reverse.

You're right that the 3 modsoul filler guys were not in the manga, and that whole like in-between scene where they caught Kon and then Grand Fisher started chasing Kon again was filler. In the manga Grand Fisher is chasing Kon and Isshin shows up like he did here. All the scenes with Uryu and his dad as well as with Ichigo and Shinji Kurosaki are canon too. After like a dozen episodes they give up on the filler character mixing and just go back to following the manga so you don't have to put up with it for long. Also if you look at the Volume 1 cover of Bleach Shinji Hirako is actually on it. He was originally planned to be a main character like the rest of Ichigo's gang in the first arc, but ended up here as a different character.
