2025-07-17 19:51:14 +0000 UTCI'm honestly hoping you've been reading my comments, Jack, since there's a lot the anime doesn’t properly establish from the manga. I hope by now you’re at least somewhat aware of the unfortunate changes the anime made. Episode 20 in particular had quite a lot cut or altered: There was a scene between Rukia and Renji that was cut, where Renji shows doubt about Rukia's sentence being final. He tries to comfort her, but she brushes him off by teasing him. It’s a great moment that adds more depth to their dynamic, showing that Renji isn't just a vicious hot-head, but someone with concern and nuance. A few moments with Keigo, Tatsuki, and the others were also cut. This includes how Tatsuki injured her arm. There were some funny scenes with Ichigo’s family too, including one moment where he actually tells them he's going on a trip and won’t be back until around the end of summer vacation. The Orihime and Tatsuki scene was pretty heavily altered as well. They even cut a cute and funny flashback where Orihime gets lost chasing dragonflies for two days. Orihime’s internal monologue—important to understanding her mindset—was also removed. Tatsuki also points out that Orihimes hairstyles is different, in that she's changed her bangs. One other scene in Soul Society was cut too, though I actually agree with that change. It would’ve potentially spoiled a plot point that’s better revealed later. In the manga, Ichigo’s walk to Urahara’s place is actually shown. On the way, he runs into Orihime, who also got the same bloody message as him apparently more upset about being told she doesn’t have a ‘sense of humour’ (lol). Ichigo’s strangely less surprised to see her (and the others) coming along, but still asks if she's certain about coming, visibly concerned. When she confidently says she’s made up her mind, he smirks, genuinely put at ease. They later meet up with Chad, who wonders if Uryu will even come, since his feelings on the situation are more complicated than everyone else's. Uryu shows up last, acting all tsundere about it—saying he’s not doing it for Rukia, but just wants to prove to Ichigo how much stronger he’s gotten. Kon also makes his first appearance to the rest of the group.
