You are asking a lot of good questions and seem to be on the right track for most of your assumtions, and for the most part they are questions that you are not supposed to be 100% sure on by this point so I won't answer them. Bleach's storytelling does not always explicity state things right away, Kubo likes to hint at the truth and gradually reveal more and more pieces of the world and characters over time. so keep that in mind. It's ok if you don't understand something right away, it will likely get explained later.

2025-07-24 20:07:32 +0000 UTCThere were a few noticeable cuts from the manga in episode 18: In the classroom scene, a completely different student seems to take Rukia’s place. Kisuke gives Ichigo a ridiculously intimidating bottle of pills that somehow eliminates all his pain on the spot. When Ichigo shows up for training, he reveals that his wounds have “completely healed,” lifting his shirt to reveal a bunch of scars. He even bows—awkwardly, but sincerely—to thank Kisuke for saving him. And, BIG SURPRISE, the conversation between Orihime and Ichigo on the steps was watered down. She overall comes across as even more endearing and supportive in that moment than the anime managed to capture. Also, in episode 19 they cut out the part where Orihime answers Yoruichi on why she's going to Soul Society, in which Orihime firmly states "To Protect Ichigo". That's when her powers manifested.
