I base a lot of my take on spoilers for Jack. 10-2 --> convert these to letters. I think Kaidou's reverence for this myth will play a role in the final war. I also think his "survival of the fittest" ideals will apply, as he'll recognize Luffy's proper place in the pirate hierarchy. But, again, it's still grasping at straws. I just want more out of Kaidou before the end of the story. While plenty of his past was seen, we didn't get as much as Big Mom or Doflamingo, which is a shame. I agree with your other sentiments. I wouldn't want him acting righteous or anything. But I think going out in a blaze of glory for a righteous cause (e.g. defending Luffy from a fatal blow or holding off some strong villains while Luffy charges up a final strike) would be a good end to him.

For me Kaido is kind of meant to be irredeemable (unless they give him some sad backstory, in which case anyone can be redeemed as per anime law). Kaido does seem to place value on honor which is interesting, but at the same time this is the same guy who was going to enslave and destroy an entire country to make him weapons so he could dominate the planet. He probably would have done that to many more nations, too. He is one of the most evil people in One Piece. I see his value on honor and determination to be more to do with Kaido respecting strength of body and mind above all else. That does not make him a good person... his ideals are just "survival of the fittest" basically where strength is the end all be all of one's existence. I guess that makes him better than someone who is sadistic in nature like Caesar Clown, but he is still completely sociopathic. Honestly, if Kaido did come back I could see it working if Kaido remained his same evil self but just wanted to go out in a blaze of glory to fight for someone he respected (Luffy). Kaido probably hates the Celestial Dragons being at the top, too, because they are so weak yet wield so much political power. It defies his philosophy of the survival of the fittest for them to be in power... the one in power should be the strongest according to him. In his eyes they did not earn their power I'm sure.

I think Kaido, like Kinemon hinted at, in that moment was talking specifically about the Akazaya reaching completion while dying bravely against him, but Kinemon is saying that would not be completion and would just be dishonorable defeat since Kaido is not an honorable opponent in his eyes and they are fighting to save Wano. At the same time, though, like you said Kaido ALSO wants that kind of death for himself. He wants to die fighting a relatively honorable battle against a powerful opponent without any unwanted interference (like what happened vs Oden). Yeah, nobody really cares about the plague round stuff. It seems there in the anime as padding to delay anime from catching up to manga.
