2025-01-12 22:56:02 +0000 UTC@Gita Yeah, I think that is the intent, the problem I find with it (which is not really a problem. its just my personal opinion) is that as a re-watcher, it is always great seeing how plot threads are set up and followed up on. Rewatching One piece is a glorious experience because Oda is awesome at subtle foreshadowing and dropping hits that don't make sense in the moment. I feel with this event, that part is sort of lost, which makes the surprise really surprising and I don't think i've watched anyone actually guess it. It just feels dissapointing, because I know Oda could do better. I hold him to such a high standard, that this non issue bothers me a bit.

Through all the time we've known this character, there isn't a single point i can think of that have them do something shady or act in a way we wouldn't expect them to. Its actually pretty annoying, cause even knowing who it is and looking for the signs, there really aren't any. It feels a bit like pulling something out of thin air. However, if you've spotted examples that someone who is watching it for the first time could technically pick up on, kudos to you. Don't reveal what they are yet until they are revealed, but i'd love to hear what the clues you saw were.
