Another great example in media of this you might be familiar with in case you played World of Warcraft would be the difference between dragons from pretty much everywhere, and "serpents" that are exclusive to Mists of Pandaria (which depicts asian culture)

2024-11-23 14:05:50 +0000 UTCShanks' strength is another mystery for sure but maybe since we have a little bit of Kaido's display of strength and try to connect or measure it from Kaido. If you remember on the Marineford arc, Kaido wanted to go there to join the war but clashed with Shanks instead, a day before the war happened. From the marine report, we knew he'd been pushed back by Shanks, thus making him unable to make it to Marineford. Maybe back then, kaido just didn't want to pick fight with another emperor and it'll be another all out war on top of the Whitebeard vs Marine war, but yeah.. The only lead to shanks' strength was only that.

2024-11-23 02:55:16 +0000 UTCKaido's fruit is as hax as you can get, aside from probably Kizaru's or Fujitora's. I can't even think of a fruit that would stay on equal ground to begin with. Maaaaybe if there was a water water fruit, but even then... One aspect though that gets really overlooked is that he is not a western-culture dragon, but rather an asian dragon. Due to his actions though, he is the embodiment of western dragons but with eastern physical characteristics and properties. Western dragons -> feared, destructive, living in caves or mountains, and solitary. Eastern dragons -> respected, revered, nurturing, life-giving, reside closely to water bodies and are generally part of a "cosmic" order of divine creatures. In practice it might not mean much, but it just shows how oda layed things down. Also, due to how size growth works in one piece as we've seen with other fruits, when he's that large, any wound will proportionately shrink when in human form. A cut on his dragon cheek for example might just be the equivalent of a needle-sized poke on his human face. But the reverse is also true, so no wonder why he'd fight as a dragon, there is just more surface to get wounded on, while receiving less damage at the same time.

The pasing is a bit poor in the first attack on kaido, but is all k, the animation makes up for it. (for context, in the manga there are only a few frames before luffy strikes kaido which makes it feel a lot faster and more surprising.) Looking forward to sunday. Its thunder time!

2024-11-22 19:49:49 +0000 UTCYou could think that Kaido's stronger than big mom (and that could be true tbh) but, to be fair, being an emperor is not only about being strong, but also having a major influence in the new world (you usually have both if you're an emperor). For example, mihawk was shanks' sword rival, but he operates alone, so he probably has enough power to be an emperor, but no major influence whatsoever. It's safe to assume that there's a "ranking" of strenght among yonkos (prbly really small gap), but does it really matter? I mean, if you're an emperor you probably are strong enough to win like 99.9% of 1v1s, and a dispute between two emperors could last A LOT (just imagine big mom vs kaido, two tanks endlessly hitting eachother with nukes). sorry for the yappuccino
