Ace came here, became friends with the people here and promised to return to make this a place where they could eat as much as they want. But with his death, this was passed on to luffy, who arrives and says the exact same thing. However this time, instead of being 'When i come back', it is 'before I leave this country'. Showing the will of ace through and through. I love the story of Wano, even looking back at it in retrospect like this.

2024-11-15 21:47:18 +0000 UTCSo a bit of depressing information. The scene with the lady, the baby and grandmother in the house was heavily censored by the anime. In the manga it was way darker. They were so hungry, the lady was holding a knife to her baby about to unalive the baby while the grandmother was about to hang herself. The arrival of the treasure ship was what stopped them. It’s honestly one of the darkest scenes in One Piece and it was quite an indicator of how bad and desperate the situation in Wano is.
