Another beautiful movie is Ponyo.. totally recommended. It has my neighbor totoro vibes in some ways.

2024-06-07 04:57:51 +0000 UTCI first played Ocarina of Time and saw this movie on the same day when I was a kid. I've never been able to separate those two in my mind. So looking at either fills me with the same feelings I had back then. This is and will always be my favorite Ghibli film. The last time I watched it was in the theater with my Mother some time after quarantine lifted. She passed last August and I didn't know when I would watch it again. I enjoyed watching it here, with fresh eyes and commentary. Thanks for sharing and enjoying one of my favorites. 💕

2024-06-05 07:54:00 +0000 UTCGorgeous movie, even with the demonic creatures and uncanny deer-human, love the overall themes and atmosphere The Yakul commentary was great 😂 I think Mononoke is in my top 5 for Ghibli movies, definitely worth rewatching in a theater if you have the chance. I agree that the movie feels simple in a way despite all the parties involved but there are definitely little hints and layers in the dialogue, like Eboshi saying 'Even cut off, the head can still bite' when San attacks the ironworks 👀
