That’s not “goop!” That’s venom! Blue-ringed octopi are poisonous. One of its suction cups has venom a hundred times more than cyanide! which means Zoro’s in big trouble. Of course you shouldn’t believe that.

These two episodes were great, I also very much appreciate them showing Hordy's past to really illustrate how he was created in detail. Personally, I think the way they did the reveal of Hordy's motivations was initially misleading. We already knew Hordy was a product of his environment, and we knew he was influenced by Arlong to some degree because Arlong was his stated role model. Villains in One Piece are not known to always have been direct victims in some way to explain their evil deeds, so it's not like it is surprising for Hordy to be purely a product of environment and indoctrination especially with the subject matter being racism. The show acting like it was a reveal made it seem like they were giving him a NEW motivation, but in reality it was already the assumed motivation by the audience. I don't think it should have been treated as a reveal, it just ended up being misleading and underwhelming. I would have preferred if during Fukaboshi's fight with Hordy it showed Hordy saying "nothing" instead of hiding what he said. It would not have been that surprising, but it would have still had impact since it just further solidifies the kind of evil man Hordy was and how bad the indoctrination of racism had become. Then they show Hordy's backstory and Fukaboshi blaming himself for turning a blind eye to the Fishman District tying it all together nicely.
