That shot of chief firing his pistol at the centurions before they blow up is straight out of Saving Private Ryan. Nice little reference there. It was obvious Crashdown wasn't cut out for command, but pulling a gun on Cally was seriously crossing a line. Baltar did the right thing. He would have got them all killed. The previous episode shows just how dangerous centurions are, 5 on 5, especially with only 1 actually experienced soldier, they stood no chance. Not only would they have died, but the missile launcher would probably still be intact and take down the raptors too. Aside from saving Cally, Gaius really stepped up this episode. He was taking action and fighting as hard as anyone could be expected to. It's a nice evolution from the self centered man whore who panics at the first sign of trouble. Add to that starting to ask questions about morality and contemplating the right and wrong of his actions and how that relates to being a father, it's a lot of character growth. I'd kinda call BS on Six being his conscience though. Like "hold on, I killed a single man to stop him from murdering an innocent woman. You guys nuked billions of people, including children". Then again there's speculation as to whether head Six is actually a cylon or just appears to be one. After all she leans much more on God's plan when talking to Baltar than on the cylon's plans. Tigh has shown some real leadership the past couple episodes, but it all kind of fell apart here, and the reason has a name. Ellen. I mean the booze doesn't help either, but the 2 aren't unrelated. His outbursts in the CIC certainly didn't help, and Dee signaling to Gaeta that he's been drinking again shows how the crew really regards him in his absence. Add to that the bad look of locking up and depriving treatment to who everyone now knows is a terminally ill president, and he doesn't have much support in the fleet. Declaring martial law comes across as throwing a tantrum and flipping the table over when things don't go his way, which funny enough we had a preview of in the miniseries. Adama needs to get his ass out of bed.
