I have mixed feelings on the the actions of the various characters in this one. I actually think Camille's argument is kind of hollow. Young already reports to his superiors, who themselves report to a civilian government. It would be different if they were out of contact with Earth, but they're not. Even if we say they're so far away that nobody back on Earth is qualified to give them orders, and they need autonomy, then Camille isn't the one for that task, because she's just taking direction from the IOA, so same problem. Rush is ultimately the reason they all got trapped there in the first place, and as such he's responsible for Sen. Armstrong and the others who have died. Not really the guy you want in charge. Now they're facing hostile aliens, meaning you would WANT military leadership to keep people safe. Now that said, it's a real bad look that Young left Rush behind, and was seemingly willing to kill him and Chloe to cover it up by destroying that ship. On the one hand, you can understand Rush being worried Young would kill him if he found he had a tracking device, but on the other he was willingly putting the whole ship in danger to save his own life. I think Young handled the coup as well as could be expected, and he proved Rush wrong by getting the chip removed when he could have justifiably tossed him through the stargate and been done with him. He did everything he could to eliminate the threat and save Rush's life, and he didn't even out that Rush had framed him. He didn't even institute some draconian martial law on the ship, he just kind of told everyone to go to their rooms and cool off. Real talk though, James was going kinda hard when she got through that door. Now sure what it says about you when you make Greer look like the calm one. I do feel bad Eli though. He's about the only person onboard that's not playing games(granted probably mostly because he didn't get a chance to bring a playstation) or trying to manipulate people, and he sees everyone fighting and scheming just to say "I'm the captain now" while he's just trying to do what he can to make things better for EVERYONE.

2023-09-29 11:15:37 +0000 UTCI agree with Faily's sentiment. This is a decent scifi show! But maybe not a great Stargate show. Destiny's situation is not too dissimilar to season 1 of Atlantis, but I can't imagine Rodney and Elizabeth facing off against John like this. Perhaps if Sumner were still in command, and John was Sumner's Scott... Shows how the writers really wanted to have deeply flawed characters as leads just to create drama and tension. Could you imagine a competent, supportive and tight-knit SG-team on Destiny instead of this ragtag bunch? Would have been a completely different show. Fortunately no kumbaya here.
