He really has come so far from when we first saw him, and I love that this episode highlighted his unique value to the expedition. Also nobody makes the most of a clip show like the stargate writers. The question of whether the Atlantis Expedition has done more harm or good is tricky to answer. You really can't say until we've seen the end result of their presence. In the short term, yes, all the deaths caused by the wraith and asurans and Michael would not have happened without their arrival. Then again, without Atlantis, the results of the ori conflict might have been different, and they could be knocking on Pegasus' door before too long. Aside from that, if the wraith simply continue the cycle of culling without end, countless billions will die eventually anyway. If the wraith are defeated once and for all, then in the long run casualties will be drastically lower, even with the losses in the last 5 years. That's not to say there weren't legitimate grievances or that the SGA crew hasn't made serious mistakes. Still, it's foolish to think anyone could swoop in and wipe the wraith out without causing any collateral damage. Ridding the Pegasus Galaxy of wraith was always going to get messy, and I think many of it's denizens know that. What likely provoked this response was not necessarily the deaths that were a result of their actions, but the fact that for half a decade the Atlantis Expedition have been unilaterally making decisions on behalf of the people of the Pegasus galaxy without consulting the very people who will be most affected. That really needs to change. And yeah, no sense delaying SGU. Just jump in after SGA finishes up. It's just 2 seasons, so might as well wrap up the SG journey. Again, really happy to see some life coming back to the community. That Tropic Thunder reaction was excellent, and Firefly really got people fired up. I know BSG is gonna be goated as well. Definitely a worthy franchise for SG to pass the torch to.
