2023-03-16 03:46:24 +0000 UTCMust have missed that scene. Yeah I think Katie unintentionally enabled a lot of Rodney's bad habits. I like the scene at the end where Keller is like "dude, I'm asking you to have a beer with me". She's making him look in the mirror and realize when he's being clueless.

2023-03-13 18:24:11 +0000 UTCThey showed Keller sweeping dirt out at one point in the episode! Which I definitely give them credit for. And yeah, Katie and Rodney would never work out, I think. I mean, it was very obvious she was saying goodbye to him and their relationship in their last interaction and it was very obvious he didn't realize it. He needed someone who would be like "YO, WTF" when he gets all weird and isn't getting the normal cues from other people's behavior. He needs things spelled out for him, plainly.

2023-03-13 08:36:13 +0000 UTCThis was a pretty fun episode, but also it's good to see Carter out in the field and actually doing something. She's been fairly underutilised as leader of Atlantis this season. Weir tended to be much more present episode to episode. One thing that bugged me was they talk about all the weight they've added to the room, but nobody thinks to start throwing junk overboard. Sure you don't want to throw out something that may be useful, but at least sweep the dirt out. It's not really surprising that Rodney and Katie didn't work out. Aside from their polar opposite pessimist/optimist personalities clashing, they're both pretty awkward. One you can get away with, but too much awkwardness just feels like a relationship killer. Keller is a lot more social and would be better at breaking McKay out of his shell. How this will clash with Ronon, hard to say. Like she said, they only really had a moment. I do have to criticize Carter though. As Stef said, this was rather "conveniently" written. Carter should never have allowed both of them to go near that hole. Either Keller should have gone being the doctor and better able to assess whether McKay is injured, or Carter having medical training and unwilling to risk someone else's life would have gone. Either way it's not like either of them could help him. One of them should have immediately backtracked to the treeline(if the ground is solid enough to hold up trees, they're not going through). With only one person at the edge, the second cave in may not have happened, and if it did, you'd still have 1 person able to run back to the gate and get a jumper out there. On that note, it would have been such an awesome visual if the jumper arrived and dropped a rope down for them, and just as they're finishing hooking up to the line, another tremor hits and the entire cavern collapses and you see the room fall away and the entire field caves in and falls into this deep chasm while they're just dangling over this several hundred metre drop as the room smashes to bits on the way down.

2023-03-12 22:38:14 +0000 UTCDial the Gate had a nice live interview last night w a ChatBot designed after Col Jack O'Neill (circa season 7ish) - the results were really quite impressive in regards to the consistency, depth, and tone of his answers, and especially when considering the type of info it was taught vs the type of info it found on its own in just a few weeks' time.

2023-03-12 18:10:57 +0000 UTC😂 That's totally one reason! I had to unlearn some childhood planet knowledge! Also, he just seems like he's... up his own ass. And doesn't like admitting when he's wrong about something. And thinks that just because he's knowledgeable in one area that he's knowledgeable in aaallll areas. And thinks that just because we don't know something yet means that it can't or doesn't exist, which really, really bothers me. I really could go on, but I won't, because that'd be kind of annoying and very "Neil deGrasse Tyson" of me.

2023-03-11 18:58:54 +0000 UTCon the Splint vs Stent naming, a splint is an external brace for injuries that require rigid support like broken bones, a stent is a mesh framework they insert into arteries/veins to prevent then from collapsing

2023-03-11 00:00:37 +0000 UTCTyson declassified Pluto as a planet. He doesn't get to come back from that. It's bad enough he's just out there in society, walking around...

2023-03-10 23:07:20 +0000 UTCThis is a fun one. McKay's bitching about Neil deGrasse Tyson always cracks me up. He just bothers me so much, lol. But honestly so does Bill Nye, even though I loved him as a kid.

2023-03-10 22:57:15 +0000 UTCYour comment about how this episode was probably fun to film... it was... eventually. Amanda Tapping had a SEVERE fear of heights. At one point when she was up on the "bar bet" structure, she got so scared she couldn't move. When she admitted that to the crew, she started crying (because of how much depended on her in that moment... the episode depended on her being able to do it). But she faced her fear and CONQUERED it. And she said they ended up laughing the rest of the shoot and it reminded her of the early days doing SG-1. AMANDA: "It’s funny, the episode I was dreading the most turned out to be my favorite of this year.”

2023-03-10 22:45:00 +0000 UTCIt's well-written, but for my strange tastes it's always seemed too much of a "conveniently dangerous for bonding purposes" episode.
