2023-01-13 05:43:52 +0000 UTCWhile I never particularly loved this episode it served a specific purpose. It showed SAM drawing upon her personal experience to help augment her leadership. She entertains an unlikely idea and identifies the problem because she has experience with Jack's Crystal incident. "It can't possibly be...." was such a trope early on in sg1. She has moved beyond it. She's aware of the danger of giving people sedatives to keep them awake due to her experience searching for Merlin's weapon per Morpheus. She solves the problem by using technology she previously salvaged from another planet, to enter another's mind. This is about learning from SG1's experiences overall and simultaneously highlighting Sam's leadership as an improved tool as a consequence of those experiences. It's what makes her an excellent choice as leader.
