2022-06-20 23:16:35 +0000 UTCYeah I honestly didn't mind this one too much. Could be mostly because of Aisling Bea. With John Bishop as well that's two actor \ comedians in the same episode. Helps with a lot the humour delivery. If I'm not cringing, I'm over looking a lot of stuff honestly. Laughter is just the best medicine in getting through this subpar period of the show. Of course Graham was regularly on beat for the most part, but again another actor comedian with generally proven acting chops. The Yaz and Doc requited / unrequited thing is what it is. I'm not sold on it as a concept. We have seen the loose wobbly scaffolding of this develop. But I'm not climbing that. It's been mostly too lacklustre to really hold any overarching weight to the whole era. Being that Yaz has been here from the beginning. The mistake was perhaps having anyone else, if this was a totally planned route. Honestly, so much didn't work in the early days. This feels too undeveloped. They've seemed to have thought throwing in the occasional exchange will suffice. I'll give it to Mandip and John, they sold that scene for me as a singular delivered acting moment in this episode. It can only be another bad ending for the companion. The Doctor will change and they will either die or get left behind with or without their memory intact. What matters is the journey to that inevitability. This is too unsubstantial if we are going to play that comparison game.
