As far as how different Asgard DNA "must" be from any Earth creature... I'm thinking about various extremophiles that have been discovered, and the fact that many of them are actually quite different from other lifeforms on Earth, just playing Devil's Advocate here, but it could have been just an undiscovered species from Earth

2023-01-23 18:00:54 +0000 UTCThis episode’s plot is something that pretty much had to happen with the number of people who know about the stargate by now. Imagine all the people who have worked at the SGC, area 51, pentagon and NID over the last 8 years. All the people in other countries who’ve become aware of the stargate since Disclosure. Add to that all the private contractors who must’ve been exposed to at least some part of the project and all the top management involved with the companies owned by the leaders of the Trust. That’s a lot of people. Can’t just say they’re all crazy. I thought it was a good episode and I liked the guest characters. I did think it would’ve been better if Colson industries or Alec himself had been introduced in a previous episode or at least mentioned in passing given how heavily this episode tried to lean on a preexisting working relationship between Sam and Alec. We did get some continuity with other familiar characters though. We got to see Julia Dawson, the reporter, and hear Emmett Bregman mentioned again. It was strange that the SGC was apparently leading the response to this particular crisis. Alec was a civilian. Surely dealing with him was the responsibility of some civilian agency, like the NID. Why and how did earth get their hands on Asgard DNA? Did they swab Thor’s mouth during a visit? Did the Asgard know we had that DNA? Surely they would, they seem to know way too much about what happens on our planet. And how were Alec’s employees expected not to realize they’d been given alien DNA? Surely the Asgard genome is significantly different from any earth creature’s. Why would the Asgard agree to give earth advanced holographic technology to allow the US to cover up its own blunder and continue to hide the truth from the public? It was the US government’s fault that Alec got his hands on all that evidence, including Asgard genetic information. In fact, security around the stargate project is apparently so bad that anyone can get the phone numbers of SG-1’s members. Finally an alpha site that doesn’t look like a container camp. Definitely a step up, though still problematic from a security standpoint. The gate is in the same room together with a lot of important looking equipment, rather than in a secure room that can be sealed off. We didn’t see an iris, though I suppose it might’ve just been in an open state. We also didn’t see the DHD. Hopefully that’s in a separate room. Sam takes Alec for a joy ride in a futuristic single stage to orbit space plane, yet they stay inside the atmosphere?? I suppose that wouldn’t work with the nose dive part of the scene. At the end of the episode Sam takes Alec to secretly work for the SGC offworld. I suppose doing important work on a military base is better than rotting in a prison cell surrounded by criminals. Still, that ending does raise some questions. If, as far as the public knows, Alec has disappeared, then he can’t just come back in a few years and resume his life the way someone who just got out of jail can. I’m assuming the crimes he was accused of don’t justify life imprisonment. Assuming the stargate doesn’t go public for many years or decades to come, is Alec going to spend the rest of his life offworld working without pay and without the option of going home? Possibly for a much longer time than he would’ve spent in jail had he not agreed to come work for the military? I know I'm late, but I hope Faily and his family are doing well by now.

2022-01-05 03:04:46 +0000 UTCSG-1 and SGA are streaming on prime video in Canada with the MGM add-on (3.99/month). Unfortunately for some reason certain seasons of SG-1 are "unavailable", and it seems to rotate what's unavailable every so often. Currently seasons 7,8 and 10 are unavailable. All of Atlantis is on there though.

2022-01-03 12:55:42 +0000 UTCI think a lot of Patreons get frustrated because they may not use Discord so are not getting these updates that the rest of you seem to. Those updates should be on this platform, that's what it's for and as this is what patreons have signed up and paid for. I really like FW, his content's great and he seems like a lovely guy. But it's not just this Christmas period where I've found myself completely lost around when episodes are coming out/scheduling. Maybe he needs someone who has discord who can update the community tab for him with any updates rather than on individual videos, then everyone would be in the know. 😊

2022-01-03 11:22:53 +0000 UTCI'm currently going through it and it's been kicking my arse. Almost 2 weeks and counting. I am asthmatic so not been good on the breathing side. I do know other people that have had it and recovered in a few days.

2022-01-02 23:38:51 +0000 UTCHe already owns the season box set on DVD, that isn't the problem.

2022-01-02 19:46:38 +0000 UTCFeel better! Don't worry too much about vids being late or people asking, your health and your families health is more important rn. Everyone (should) understand that <3

2022-01-02 19:07:08 +0000 UTCI still don't understand why he can't buy his own DVDs
Brent Justice
2022-01-02 18:46:02 +0000 UTCthose are also very affordable, a USB DVD drive is cheap, an external USB DVD drive is $22 on Amazon, so there is no excuse
Brent Justice
2022-01-02 18:45:26 +0000 UTCThey’re all available for purchase on Amazon video to stream even if you have to pay for them it’s not that expensive.

2022-01-02 18:31:04 +0000 UTCHonestly wasn't expecting anything for the week of xmas and new years but then to find out they got covid and he still put out a few videos and everyone's still hounding. Ive gotten a little impatient lately too but that's on me. Finally quit world of warcraft after 18 years so there's a big void in my life that used to be filled with wasting time in a poorly developed game by a garbage company.

2022-01-02 17:22:12 +0000 UTCThe gang on discord are putting together a google drive of proper dvd rips for him to try. Should hopefully resolve the stuttering! Also for those asking "When is 'show' coming out", when he and his family are all sick with covid maybe a bit of tact and patience is in order, no?

2022-01-02 17:19:03 +0000 UTCMost PCs don't have a DVD drive anymore.

2022-01-02 03:25:35 +0000 UTCJust get the physical DVDs /shrug It's not that expensive for the amount of money he makes off Patreon alone. He could afford it.

2022-01-02 03:25:09 +0000 UTCHulu is not available in Canada. Neither is purchasing SG-1 on Youtube, I just tried.
Koala Banana
2022-01-01 20:30:07 +0000 UTCAtlantis is on Hulu. They're both available to purchase episodes on youtube as well (obviously not as cost effective). Just saying, the poor quality watermarked videos is not the only or best option.
Sarahnade
2022-01-01 18:10:54 +0000 UTCHaven't had netflix for a while, SG1 only has a few seasons left on prime and it says theyre leaving in a few days. Don't think there's a streaming option for atlantis though. A year from now it'll probably all be on prime.
Timothy Nikiforovs
2022-01-01 18:09:17 +0000 UTCIt's on Netflix in the US, but maybe not in Canada? But the entire box set is $75. A business expense. The shady downloads with the SYFY logo have always been a bit annoying. Also can cause out of order episodes if they're not labeled right or whatever. It's a small thing, but would be an appreciated quality improvement.
Sarahnade
2022-01-01 17:57:50 +0000 UTCunfortunately there are few legit options outside physical media since Stargate has been nuked from almost all streaming services.

2022-01-01 17:49:50 +0000 UTCPraying for your health and for you to stop watching shady downloads instead of the legitimate options.

2022-01-01 14:29:47 +0000 UTCAlso should we expect Buffy or Angel this weekend? They used to be out mid-week so I'm not sure if the upload day has moved?

2022-01-01 11:23:46 +0000 UTCHope your all feeling better, not nice being ill over the holidays!

2022-01-01 11:22:30 +0000 UTCyeah I'm noticing case counts are through the roof by the deaths aren't skyrocketing. If it drowns out the other variants so much the better.

2022-01-01 11:21:15 +0000 UTCOmicron is probably a blessing in disguise. The same thing happened to the Spanish Flu, it weakened itself to the point of just being another flu, but not particularly deadly. Omicron is said to be quite mild apart from being highly contagious. It's also said that the antibodies it imparts is effective against Delta. Omicron may very well finally create Herd Immunity.

2022-01-01 10:59:25 +0000 UTCas long as he figures out how to do it for 8X18
Timothy Nikiforovs
2022-01-01 10:27:20 +0000 UTCI believe hes using the same site for most of the shows and some of these older shows are just old TV rips rather than DVD rips. He would have to come up with settings to record off a dvd or an official site like netflix. While its been a long time between the last lost recording and the most recent its still an issue that could have been noticed if he just used 2 monitors like most creators. When he did the movie reactions on his other machine he had multiple monitors so was able to see when the webcam froze and he could fix it during the recording. Its an issue of willingness to spend the money and put in the effort. I know macs make it harder to multi monitor.

2022-01-01 08:35:18 +0000 UTCone of the discord guys sent him the S8 DVD. Don't know why he isn't using it.
Timothy Nikiforovs
2022-01-01 08:15:37 +0000 UTCSadly the stutter is due to the noob who recorded the videos since its not an official source. Sucks you guys got covid. That Omegatron variant.

2022-01-01 07:36:09 +0000 UTCGreat start of the new year. Watching stargate with you .

2022-01-01 07:31:47 +0000 UTCPersonally I was getting a tad bored with the constant teasing of revealing the stargate at this point. The episode is good, I like Colson's determination, feel bad for Brian being backed into a corner. That said at this point I was thinking "either reveal the gate or don't". I know Brad Wright wanted it to be something special and not just randomly revealed in some episode mid season, still it's frustrating after a while. It was interesting to see how much of the R&D done for the SGC is outsourced to the private sector though. It makes sense that a few dozen/hundred scientists and engineers at the SGC and area 51 wouldn't be doing all the work to produce something like the Prometheus. Must be a logistical nightmare to keep them all from seeing the larger picture of what they're working on. Despite all his evidence Colson still didn't actually know about the 302, so clearly they manage it. As I said, I feel bad for Brian, and it really hits when he says "why weren't you thinking about them three days ago". Can you imagine being an employee there, you've got a 4 month old at home, you just moved into a bigger house, and all of a sudden your boss starts going off about aliens while the company stock price tanks? Charles Shaughnessy gave a compelling performance and the character is likeable, but that's a reckless move with all those people depending on you. Interestingly Colson Industries was actually filmed on redressed Atlantis sets, and when he shows Sam and Daniel the evidence, there's a straight up framed picture of the stargate set. Also the Colson Industries logo is a variation of the old sci fi channel logo. Also at a $60 billion net worth, he'd be richer than anyone in the world at the time actually was by about 14 billion. Unless he's not the only one making mad profit from the advances that resulted from the stargate program. Lastly it seems Anubis didn't fully destroy the Nimitz strike group if only 2000 sailors died. There would have been about 7500 serving in that fleet.
Timothy Nikiforovs
2022-01-01 07:23:35 +0000 UTCWell, tragedy aside, the SGC now has a renowned Aeronautical Engineer working directly with them, rather than behind a firewall of secrecy. No doubt he'll continue to contribute to Earth's continued technological development.

2022-01-01 07:00:11 +0000 UTCWhen you said "the last Stargate" my heart broke for a millisecond until you said of 2021. Aka Astro the hedgehog on youtube
