I've watched SGA eps here and there, and just can't get into it. The characters/main cast aren't people I care to watch I guess, plus the stories and costumes and sets all seem like cheap knock off versions of SG1

2021-12-27 11:20:01 +0000 UTCExactly Mighty. Growing pains. Some shows just get through them faster than others. SGA matured pretty fast.

2021-12-22 19:27:37 +0000 UTCimo the majority of good sci fi shows out there have a sluggish start. It takes time to somewhat naturally give the viewer enough information to really get absorbed into the setting, and until that threshold of info is reached, episodes tend to be part actual story and part exposition vehicle.

2021-12-22 08:11:47 +0000 UTCYes well, about SGU, that was on purpose, they were trying to emulate nuBSG's success honestly.

2021-12-21 00:39:43 +0000 UTCWithout giving any detail cause spoilers.... Its kind of comical seeing all the comments about how dull the start of SGA and even SG1 were when weve all seen SGU lol.

2021-12-20 22:12:13 +0000 UTCWell I can only speak for myself lol. Some episodes are better than others but they all serve a purpose. S1 of SGA is pretty much my favourite of any show.

2021-12-20 21:39:44 +0000 UTCRodney was the stand-out of this episode. His interactions with the kids were gold, made even better by Ford's contrasting contribution.

2021-12-20 16:36:30 +0000 UTCYou need slow episodes at the start to establish your world and characters though. I think the 1st season is pretty well balanced :)

2021-12-20 16:35:29 +0000 UTC@Timothy Nikiforovs Me too. Because I dont't believe living a short live is more freedom like they say. They are probably pressured into finding their place in the tribe, then to find a mate and get a buch of children so the Camps number is ensured, then have to separate from said kids and then they are pressured to kill them self before their 25th birthday. Not much freedom in there if you ask me.

2021-12-20 08:11:37 +0000 UTCAt least it's not like most trek shows taking a solid 2 seasons to get going

2021-12-20 06:04:45 +0000 UTCI will agree with this, it starts off a little dull IMO, it does get better, but at the first, it's a bit of a downer after that great premier.

2021-12-19 21:35:25 +0000 UTCas far as the actual death, being life sucked by the wraith is for sure worse. Just a question of if you risk it to live longer. I'd say yes personally'

2021-12-19 12:43:49 +0000 UTCNot one of the better efforts of the season, but far more watchable than some of SG1's early S1 blunders. If Aries hadn't been such a drama queen the whole episode, it would have helped. Also apart from the Keras actor returning, the actor who played the guy who ran back to tell Aries the device worked also played Garan way back in A Hundred Days. It's also an interesting moral dilemma as it's not just some backward religious or cultural practice that's responsible for the ritual sacrifice, but a real practical consideration. While I'm sure they would have tried to convince them to find a better path to population control, they didn't outright tell them to abandon their practices until McKay was able to expand the field. It's ok, but definitely a weaker offering.

2021-12-19 12:16:06 +0000 UTCIn SGA you tend to see a lot of episodes reflect one's we've seen before in SG1, taking an idea and reworking it. In SG1 Revisions we had inhabitants of an alien world living in a technological dome with an AI enacting population control due to the dome failing, and the threat outside. More often than not the episodes are different enough to hold their own and these two episodes in particular are a couple of my favourites from both series.

2021-12-19 11:33:50 +0000 UTCThe Actor of Liara's son was in this episode, too. Never noticed this until today. Really like the concept of this episode. It is disturbing. But so is dying by the hand of the wraith. Can't decide what is worse.

2021-12-19 10:03:30 +0000 UTCNot the most exciting episode, but it brings up some interesting moral issues we see with the SGA because of how desperate they are. I mean they were seriously considering stealing a ZPM from a bunch of kids and "temporarily" turned off their protective shield without giving it a second thought. Those kids offing themselves wasn't the most disturbing thing in this episode.
