SG1 will always be number 1 to me. SGA will always be 2nd.

Amy Chlebus

I love SGA, but there is no SGA without SG1. I don't really see them as two different shows, so much as the SAME show from two different perspectives. After all, anything that happened in one absolutely happened and effected the other. Of course, being galaxies away limited that cause and effect interchange, but it still existed nonetheless. All that said, SG1 is #1 but SGA isn't far behind.

James Yancy

yeah new link worked great I logged in google drive downloaded too pc and opened it with the windows 10 built in movies and tv app it was really clear better quality then when i tried too stream it Thanks !

Paul Carroll

aww thanks for the re uploads of new links for sg1 and sga on monday they worked so much better for me then when I tried too watch the old link on sunday ! thanks

Paul Carroll

I didn't realize so many people preferred Atlanis over SG-1. I kinda started with Atlantis as I'd seen random eps of SG-1 but didn't remember that I had (also had seen the movie when it came out but didn't make the connection at first) but still I love SG-1 just a liiiiittle bit more. At least up to and including this season.

Zoo

I don't think she got the address, just the name.

Brent Justice

OK now that episode 2 works. The puddle jumper/gateship debate is a classic, and what's with the goauld slander?! Also the Lt col didn't leak our address she used jedi mind tricks on him.

Ba'alWhale34

People can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that McKay plays an important role in SGA because the production is half Canadian (SG1 as well) and there was increasing pressure to do things differently than SG1 who was too centered around the United States. Also, interesting fact : the actor David Hewlett (who plays Rodney McKay) is also a film director, film writer and a real science nerd in real life (although he doesn't have any scientific academic background). He's technically British because he was born in the UK but he moved to Canada at the age of 4 (which explains why he speaks like a Canadian). However, since his actor career truly took off, he moved to California. PS: Sorry if I sound too hyped about him. As a Canadian, I'm always proud when our country is part of the casting of one of my favorite TV shows. :)

Yan Brassard

Hell yeah. When SGA shows that the Goa'uld are a scout team in the scheme of the entire universe, SG1 is like Hold my beard. lol

Yan Brassard

Actually, if it wasn't for SG1, Atlantis wouldn't exist. I think that SGA fans who dislike SG1 didn't watch SG1. They started with Atlantis. But it's impossible to truly understand the SG world without starting with SG1. It helps to better appreciate both series. SGA is an entirely different world, but it is a continuation of SG1 and, by the way, if you didn't watch SG1 first, you can't understand the crossover episodes...

Yan Brassard

Holy crap, I never even noticed that that was Ayaina in the first shot of the episode. Good eye!

Ray Nothnagel

If you download it from the dropbox link it's both full episodes, the playback on the website itself is capped at 1hour

Ducati

As far as the actors go you will see a lot of SG1 people recast in Atlantis. Stargate loves to reuse actors. Most of them are also cast again in SGU.

Devin

Hi its says google drive has reached its limit and the dropbox link is only an hour long. Am i doing something wrong or do i just have to wait 24hr time to watch it?

I'm waiting for his reaction to Teyla's reaction shots 😂

Teth

I kinda grew up with SG1 and for me it was always the og sg1 team or nothing (I also hadnt seen the whole of season 6 of sg1 until now). So I never watched SGA except for a few episodes I caught on TV. But since everyone here seems really excited I'm really looking forward to it now. Love your reactions!

bixi

Since you noticed Narim as Simon, it's well worth mentioning that you should get used to Stargate recycling actors. You'll probably recognize a few other familiar faces cast as new characters in SGA!

I made the same point about the weapons. I don't think there was anything officially stopping them using zats and staffs, they just didn't want to from a creative sense.

Timothy Nikiforovs

I have a strange relationship with the S8 premiere and Atlantis pilot. On one hand, they objectively look different than anything that has aired before. But also, these were the first episodes I watched after visiting Vancouver, touring the SGC set, and meeting a good chunk of the cast (Amanda, Chris, Michael, Teryl, Don, Corin, the list goes on). So for me it was seeing everything with eyes that had been there (except for Atlantis, I wasn't actually on THAT set). Fun story: JR Bourne brought his friend Ben who is going to appear in an early Atlantis episode. The character, Kavanagh, is an unlikeable asshole, so JR said, "Come to the convention with me, meet the fans, give them a chance to know YOU before they know the character." And it worked! I despise that character but the actor? Great guy, nothing but charm. 😁

Geonn Cannon

So glad this day has come! Really excited to see you watch this. The wraith freak me out way more than the Goa'uld. They're just creepier in general. And personally, I like Atlantis just a tad bit more than SG-1. John Sheppard and Rodney are two of my favorite characters in the entire universe, so that might be it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anyway - I think you'll really enjoy this series. It has a different feel to it than SG-1, but not in a bad way. Can't wait for more episodes! And I'm impressed you remembered the frozen Ancient lady! I thought it was cool they brought her back for the pilot to give that SG-1 episode just a little more backstory.

Lady Beyond The Wall

Yeah I was wondering what version he'd watch. I honestly didn't even know there was a "cut down" version until I got Hulu and watched the first two episodes on there and noticed a bunch of little scenes missing like John and Jack in the helicopter after Weir asked John to come on the mission, the montage of people saying goodbye, Ford telling John the Stargate hurt like hell. It was weird and have no idea why those scenes were cut on Hulu.

Lady Beyond The Wall

Thank you for reacting to SGA. I have some opinions on the Wraith, I guess I can't really go into detail here since you were just introduced to them, let's just say, I wish they would have done some things differently. I also rather prefer the original design of Atlantis, there is a drawing out there of the concept for how Atlantis would look, and IMO the final result we got is nowhere as good as the concept drawing, the concept drawing is so much more futuristic, alien and ethereal looking. At any rate, as you can see, it's pretty big, and I don't think the show really ever captures how massive it is properly. You don't really get the scale so much. However, the "rising" shot is well known for fans of SGA as a really great sequence. I also found it weird that they did not take any Staff Weapons or Zats. At least a few zats. For one thing, they are gonna run out of ammo, energy weapons from the Goa'uld would last a lot longer, specially if they knew they could be stranded. Second, they had no idea what aliens they might encounter, so they might need more powerful weapons, it just makes sense to take a few, that part will ALWAYS bother me. I think the official reason is because of something to do with SG1 properties interfering with SGA properties, something about licensing and whatnot that those things could not appear across both shows due to rights and such. It's stupid though, for the story of Stargate Atlantis, in the real world they would have taken a few Goa'uld weapons. I guess there isn't much for me to say at this point, knowing everything to come I certainly have opinions about certain things, but I just can't say them yet. Otherwise, I really enjoyed SGA when I first watched it, and I think you will as well. Sit back, cause right now it's like the "fish out of pond" vibe again, but a little better this round, as at least we know a lot more than we did when we opened the Stargate for the first time. Oh, also I love the SGA stargates, very "digital" and as you noticed the puddle jumpers seem to have DHDs built into them, naturally. I also love the idea about the Ancients technology being used with mind control, apparently they found out how to combine technology and the mind, so that technology can be controlled just by thinking about what you want to do. That's really cool stuff. Also, you may want to re-watch the stuff about the Gene, the idea that Ancients have locked out their powerful tech by using a special Gene that allows only people with that Gene to activate their technology. Some humans have it, but a very small amount. It makes sense, as we learned here some Ancients went back to Earth and lived among the population, and may have intermingled, passing the Gene down I guess, while others ascended. That Gene thing, plus their ability to control technology with their minds, is pretty neat to me.

Brent Justice

Fail’s working on it

Quentin Hersent

Agh! I was halfway through the episode and it crashed. 😭 Can someone let me know when it's back up please!

C J

see if you can get a refund? just download it to the device. if paying a monthly fee isnt going to let you get around the download limit being reached its not worth the money. it should be better tomorrow. Too many uploads he doesnt usually hit this wall

Magus

Fail is going to love McKay the way he loves Daniel

Ba'alWhale34

Faily knows and is fixing it guys.

MisturSmith

No, I watched it as soon as he posted it on Patreon. He also posted it as 2 different links not one big file. You can usually watch a big file on Dropbox if you have Dropbox Plus (monthly fee) I just upgraded but I still get the 404 error 😤

Evangeline B Walker

I’ve the same problem🙁

Evangeline B Walker

Oh great, Dropbox is showing a 404 error and the download quota has been exceeded on google drive, this is becoming a problem..

Nh05401

I have seen SG-1 multiple times and while I personally loved SGA it doesn't hold the same place in my heart that the original series does. I am however really looking forward to watching this because of the characters that are going to be dropping in as well as the technological growth which will continue with this series. This last is something I feel Stargate as a franchise does really well. As for the Wraith they are less imposing but far more deadly. The Goa'uld are conquerors whereas the Wraith are far more animalistic and base in their desires. Both series openers show this very cleverly in both design of the antagonists and the design of their immediate surroundings. Lastly seeing you react to this makes me excited that you'll react to SG-U as well which I personally consider second favourite over SG-A. Stay safe and signing off.

One Who Walks Behind

links are not working

Kamil Kydlicek

SGA is Stargate on steroids, literally everything is grander, also you're coming up on the halfway point of the entire SG franchise as far as episode count goes, lots more!!!!!

accelangel

pay for dropbox? you can download the drop box files without an account, without even logging in. how many noobs stream this instead of just downloading it? its not like its less data if you stream it and streaming you have to worry about the buffer

Magus

Also Halling is played by the same actor who was the technician in the episode with the links to their heads

Amanda Andersson

So excited for this reaction! Could the links be reposted or something, neither link is working for me when I click it

sarah

There is only 450 actors that live around Vancouver so stargate has some really weird recasting

Ba'alWhale34

My mom also likes SG-1 better. I love them both but I might be slightly more inclined towards SGA, although I think the writing in SG-1 was often better.

Teth

When I got back into it earlier this year, it had been over 15 years since I'd seen an episode of the show. Barely remembered anything beyond a few episodes.

Timothy Nikiforovs

I'm pretty sure the T1000 also played a character on the X-files, but I can't remember which season or if it's even come up yet.

Teth

The comments were on point in this one. 😂 I'm so glad we got here. SGA has a really strong opening season IMO, and one of the best premises for a show overall. It's been a couple of years since I watched it so it almost feels new again.

Teth

I actually got the DVD box set of Atlantis before SG-1, so I am almost more at home with this series than the previous one. Of course, there were a lot of things I missed by starting with Atlantis instead of SG-1, but it did become somewhat rewarding once I did start watching SG-1 in order and was like "Wait, is that Dr Mcay? Cool" and "Dr Weir...you look...different." Personally, I do prefer Atlantis over SG-1 for the most part...while my mom (who is as big of a fan of the franchise as I am) prefer SG-1 over Atlantis. Both shows are great though.

Flufux

He'll still only be doing 2 SG slots a week, so the workload is the same

Timothy Nikiforovs

Finally we made it to Atlantis. I've been running the numbers on when this would drop for months, and Here we got it a week earlier than expected. Just starting S8 of SG1 and going into SGA, it might feel like you're in the home stretch now, but of the 350+ eps of the stargate franchise, you're not even 160 in yet, so there's more ahead than behind yet, to say nothing of all the talk of a new show swirling around. But yes, you can see why we've all been so hyped since this was first teased in Full Circle. Originally SGA was set to take place on Earth as the plan was for Lost City to be a series finale and SGA to be a sequel. When it was decided to keep SG1 going, SGA was moved to another galaxy so the 2 shows wouldn't step on each other's toes. I find which show people ultimately like more just boils down to what kind of stories they prefer. SG1 started with this "little fish in a big pond" feel with these relatable modern day people stepping into a sci fi world completely over their heads, and as such SG1 leans more heavily on moral dilemma stories and on character pieces, with some really unique scifi concepts explored throughout. Atlantis has a lot of overlap with those themes, but I find SGA leans much more heavily on being a pure scifi than SG1. I mean they have this super advanced city at their fingertips, puddle jumpers, tricorders, gates floating in space......it all opens the door for a much greater variety of stories to tell. Not to mention the jumpers have those drone things. The visuals of them certainly seem more refined now that it's cleared up that they're physical projectiles. They seem to be pretty standard missiles with a not crazy powerful warhead(like they're clearly not nukes or anything), but my theory is that what really makes them special is they surround themselves in a layer of plasma that lets them punch through shields and burn right through ships, letting them go straight to the critical systems before detonating. I actually only saw the first season and a half of the show originally as I lost track of it after my dad died. It was on my bucket list to finish until earlier this year. Following through with you will be just my second run through the show, so in that respect I'm even more excited than for SG1. And yes, Weir's boyfriend is played by Garwin Sanford(Narim). Craig Veroni (Dr Grodin, the guy who first found the gate shield) was previously in the episode Grace as a weapons officer on the 303. Paul McGillion (Dr Beckett) previously appeared WAAAYYY back in The Torment of Tantalus as the young Ernest Littlefield. And yes that is Christopher Heyerdahl from the SG1 episode Revisions. A little surprised you didn't point out Robert Patrick, the liquid metal terminator from T2. Also great choice for them to bring Rodney back, which was apparently a last minute decision. It's been a minute too, last we saw of him was Redemption 2 years before. He has a lot more room to grow as a character in this show, and ultimately becomes my favourite character on the show in many ways. One thing I need to point out is that they don't seem to have brought any goa'uld weapons along. I mean staff weapons are pretty clumsy, but given how hard they hit probably useful against the wraith. I've said before it's amazing the SGC has backward engineered inertial dampers and hyperdrive engines but they can't reconfigure the staff weapon tech into a rifle that's compact and accurate. In the case of the Atlantis expedition you'd figure they would at least bring some zats, given that they're cut off from Earth and supplies. Eventually they'll run out of bullets. Staff weapons seem to be good for thousands of shots out of that tiny green power cell. In a more ergonomic design, that's perfect for a team cut off from supplies. Realistically though, the Asgard can zip between galaxies in minutes. They could be at Atlantis inside of an hour. I get the impression they'll be busy rebuilding for a while though. As to the wraith, they certainly are terrifying. First time you see them it's like "what in the KISS is going on". And like you I too remember thinking how tame they made the goa'uld seem. Don't know about them being more more deadly than the replicators. I mean the wraith did defeat the ancients, whereas ancient tech screwed the replicators, but in a general sense, the replicators ability to reproduce so incredibly fast and be completely impervious to energy weapons, as well as stealing tech and using it to improve makes them incredibly dangerous in a strategic sense. But yeah, 1 on 1 I'd rather battle lego blocks than space vampires. Then again if you step on replicator blocks bare foot it's all over😁. Lastly I just want to point out that the episode title (Rising) points to what I think is the best scene in the pilot. The scene where the city detaches from the ocean floor and rises to the surface is one of a handful of TV/movie scenes that I would describe as cinematically perfect. The leadup to the scene draws you into the desperation of being seconds away from the shield failing and everyone drowning, then McKay shouts that the shield is collapsing and it just feels like they're completely fucked, then finally it dawns on you that the city is surfacing and you're stuck bouncing between relief and awe. The music, the camera work(especially that one shot following the tower as it breaches the surface), the performances, everything just works together perfectly to capture every emotion you as a viewer should be experiencing. I never get tired of that scene. Just flawless IMO. So yeah, SGA definitely hit the ground running, and it wasted no time setting itself apart from SG1. It definitely stands on it's own merits as a show. Also with New Order, Pegasus makes the 3rd galaxy we've visited in just 2 episodes(2 parters), and the fifth overall if that galaxy in Enemies wasn't Ida or Othalla. We'll ignore the Kaliam Galaxy mentioned in the movie since Abydos was retconned to be very close to Earth, not on the other side of the universe. So yeah, looking forward to following you on this journey. It's a ride for sure.

Timothy Nikiforovs

GREAT Reaction!!!! you did recognize that male actor watching the video from Dr Weir, he played Samanthas Tollan love-interest before Tollana was destroyed. Been so many season since that happened. You may recognize a lot of recycled actors from SG1 in this series.

DANIEL JAMES

Season 1 of SGA is going to be a lot of fun, but season 2 is going to drop some bombshells that will knock your socks off..!

James Yancy

Hm you're doing so many tv shows already, i hope it's not gonna be too much. Good luck to you.

Jo

Great reaction !! - I absolutely love this show, even more than SG1. I'm so glad you are reacting to it. The wraith are definitely more menacing than the goa'uld, although SG1 isn't finished taking things to the next level. Hang in there, lots more story to go !!

EveryThirdNotThursday

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO waited for over a year for this

UKaiser98

I'm really excited to re-watch this series with you since I haven't watched it since its first airings. I remember being hyped about the show back then, mostly fascinated with how much more lore we were going to get. But at the same time, I still remained a fervent fan of SG1 and defended it against anyone who liked SGA more. lol Not my most mature reaction, but SG1 just held (and still holds) a very special place for me. Now getting 3 seasons of both show reactions together is going to be SO much fun.

big props for getting the full version! we're all in for a fantastic ride!

Torbrevelk

Funny story, I was originally going to send you the Atlantis version of the gate light, then I realized it would be like 5 months longer before I could send it spoiler free, so I nabbed the SG1 gate instead and sent that, and the SGA gate is sitting on my desk. The pegasus gates are pretty nifty. Next gen high tech gates. Not much contrast with EVERYTHING being blue though, and no manual dial. Overall I prefer the contrast of the orange chevrons and the spinning ring giving it a rustic look. Just classic. The Pegasus DHDs are just beautiful though. Definitely prefer them.

Timothy Nikiforovs

It's there. You just gotta download it because dropbox only shows an hour or wait for google to finish to stream.
