I was so confused when I watched this episode for the first time because I remembered the actor playing Pete from the season 2 episode with the Reetou where he played one of the soldiers guarding the gate room [he peeked out from behind this big gun with a shield when the kid walked in through the stargate]. Took me a while to understand he was playing a different character. Pete was apparently supposed to come off nice and wholesome, but I thought he was as creepy as nearly all of the previous men who fell for Sam, maybe even more than most. He knew she worked for the military, it’s not at all surprising she can’t tell him exactly what she does. Despite that Pete accused Sam that she WON’T share with him, had an FBI agent run a background check on her [shouldn’t that be illegal in addition to creepy?] then followed her around for an entire day. But somehow everyone is fine with it, including Sam, and the SGC even lets her tell him about the stargate instead of seeing his behavior for the huge red flag that it is. I find it strange that nobody noticed Pete was following them, especially Jack. The guy is a police officer, not a secret agent. The Osiris/Sarah plot was good and in my opinion saved the episode. It tied together several previous storylines, it was interesting and it led to a bit of action. It’s always nice to see technology progress. We saw a new way to block the signal emitted by the ribbon devices, and while it wasn’t addressed in dialogue they’ve clearly improved the Goa’uld tranquilliser medication because it worked so much faster this time. The Osiris/Sarah plot was tied up very hastily. We didn’t even see the Tok’ra and we didn’t get any indication as to what Sarah will do now. She’s been gone from the planet for about 3 years. Was she declared dead during that time? Did the SGC maintain a cover story for her while she was gone in case they managed to rescue her?

Also he went full on stalker on her after like 3 dates.

The wife of the actor who plays Pete always references Sam or Amanda (I can't remember which) when he kisses her, because Amanda asking to do another take of one of the kisses in this episode.

Martin Wiggan

Fun fact, she was originally going to be humming the Macgyver theme song to surprise Richard Dean Andersson, but at the time, no one remembered how it went, so they went with the Stargate theme instead.

Watch next week's Stargate together if possible, please. :)

Lady Beyond The Wall

I like Pete and I think it's good that Sam has a bit of romance and a life outside of the crew. One thing I really don't like about how they wrote this episode, and Pete, though is how quickly this all came together. It's literally been one episode from Grace and she's dating someone new who she only sleeps with for the first time in this episode, and yet he is badgering her about her work and this secret he thinks she's keeping. Obviously for the episode they want Sam's love interest to find out about the gate, not sure why so early,  but they could have done it a different way. They can't have been dating that long and yet he getting very annoyed that she's hiding something about her job from him, even when she says that she could get in 'big, big' trouble by telling him he then goes out and basically spys on her by doing a background check and then following her while she's on a mission! Even when he knows she may be 'black ops' and sees officers with guns, the van and an obvious operation going on he puts himself in the middle of it. As a police officer he would know what it means when someone is off the books and to respect that. As much as I like Pete it always bugs me. Plus the way she is just totally OK with it at the end and then reveals the secret to him. This episode has to have been written by a bloke because that would not happen, particularly as a woman, after someone you care about has intruded on your life so openly when you've made it clear that you have boundaries.

Dunno what's up with patreon but my comment up and disappeared

Timothy Nikiforovs

I got the impression he was referring to Daniel transitioning back from being ascended

Timothy Nikiforovs

I'm surprised you are only now picking up on the Orlin thing. I think we had typed out that explanation in the patreon chat in some episode when ascension was introduced, and again when we learned that Ancients are ascended, so that means Orlin was an Ancient since he knew how to build a Stargate, I guess that means you don't read the patreon posts here /shrug Well, on the off chance you do, I enjoyed your reaction, and Sam singing the theme tune was really neat. Also as Omar said above, Teal'c isn't turning human, he's still a Jaffa, just a Jaffa without a symbiote, so his immune system is now being maintained by the Tretonin, and he has to sleep now, but he isn't a human. I think they quickly skimmed over Sarah's recovery a bit too much, it was all very quick, imagine what she could tell us about what Osiris knew, she should be a great source of information. I hope they remember that and we see her again, cause she could be a huge resource knowing a lot about Anubis and his plans. Also, she had to be beaming to somewhere, I think she must have had a ship in orbit. It would make sense. I liked this idea/concept, to use his dreams to unlock the tablet. I think the show is definitely moving forward with the lost city idea now.

Can't stand Pete.....Why? He's against Singin' In the Rain. Nope, don't like him.

Erin Ragsdale
