I love the Unas episodes and diplomacy episodes, so I really like this one. It also ties in well with past episodes. It makes sense that as earth begins manufacturing spaceships it will suddenly be in need of a look of naquadah, though the urgency did seem a bit exaggerated. I can think of two planets off the top of my head where the SGC was planning to start mining by the end of an episode [‘Need’ and ‘100 Days’] so unless both fell through and they didn’t find any other sources off screen in the meantime they should already have a somewhat steady supply. Strange that Colonel Edwards wasn’t removed from command, disciplined or at least admonished for not immediately reporting finding the old mining tools. If he had, they would’ve known there might be Unas in the area and at the very least wouldn’t have let that soldier that got killed go on his own. That colonel was directly responsible for his death. As others have mentioned, the change in actor playing Chaka was unfortunate, but I don’t think that was the only issue. The prosthetics didn’t fit right which caused his lower lip to always be hanging down revealing his lower gum and I thought the nose seemed stretched too tight over the actor’s face. It was distracting.

Jack was a cunt to that physician.

So, this episode is a bit slow for me. It feels like, as others have said, should have been in an earlier season, so for that, it feels out of place in Season 7. It's ok, it's interesting, I guess, but overall one I usually skip on re-watches. /shrug

"Hanson! Penhall!" Nice of Peter DeLuise to throw those in for Edwards to call out. Both are the names of Peter and Johnny Depp's characters on 21 Jump Street back in the day. I'm one of the few that LOVE the Unas episodes, mostly because I love this side of Daniel. But I agree with a poster earlier saying that the switch in actors is very unfortunately noticeable.

Siler's year of hell continues... spot him in the bed next to Jack with a neck brace!

Geonn Cannon

Stephen Williams was also in the original TV show 21 Jump Street with Peter Deluise and Johnny Depp ❤❤

Amy Chlebus

BC-303. We all know what ship that name is leading up to

One thing I noticed this time in my 24th re-watch. The planet had a weird electromagnetic effect that makes compass and radios almost useless. Making this place a long term mining outpost would be a pain in the butt. If the Unas didn't mine it for us the project may have had costly delays 🤔

Man, I'm slow. So, everytime I see this title, I think of it as a reference to the old sci-fi movie called Enemy Mine, and it has some similarities. But for some reason, it just occurred to me that they're in a god damn MINE. With "enemies". 🤦‍♀️ I feel really dumb sometimes! I'm very excited for the next episode though! 😍

The Sg1 cast love to attend comic con type events. I've got a photo with everyone but Amanda!:(

OK, let's address something that still bothers me right away. There is an asteroid that's a whopping 137 km long and basically pure naquadah in the core, that is heading away from Earth along a predictable trajectory. Now obviously mining in space presents it's own challenges, but task some SG teams to steal cargo ships, set up a mining base there, and you've got all the naquadah you'll ever need. Couple seconds in hyperspace going either way and you can ferry an unlimited supply of naquadah back to Earth. Yes, I'm still salty that they just forgot about such a massive strategic resource. I mean the asgard already gave us tech for the Prommie, just ask them for a few of their transporters and beam the naquadah right out of the core. A lot of people aren't too fond of this episode(well, unas eps in general) but it was also the first real chance to showcase Daniel's diplomatic skills since his return. Considering how aggressive the unas are, negotiating a joint mining agreement is quite an accomplishment. And fuckin Michael Rooker too. I just realized he was in this when I rewatched it a few months back. When it first came out Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy weren't a thing. Whole episode he's like "he may have been your unas boy, but he's still a savage". I will say I'm not the biggest fan of the switch in actors for Chaka. Dion Johnstone was unavailable to return, so they got Patrick Currie to fill in. Currie previously played the replicator Fifth. I thought he was gritting his teeth too much when talking as Chaka though. Johnstone's Chaka seemed much more articulate, and considering he was brought in as a mediator, I felt that overdoing the "gruntiness" of the unas language detracted a bit from the episode. The episode name actually refers to a classic sci fi movieof the same name in which a human and alien pilot both crash on the same planet and need to cooperate. Worth a watch sometime, and the aliens kinda look like unas.

Diplomacy Daniel episodes are always some of my favorites,

The unas eps do kinda blur together

Let's fucking go!

Perfect timing! Just got back from work and I'm dying to unwind. That being said, I could have sworn this episode was back in s4 or something?
