Great opener, but felt like a lot going on at once thrown at us, I'm glad it's a 3 parter, cause 2 isn't enough to wrap it up where all the threads are going.

2021-09-13 23:07:46 +0000 UTCThey're really pulling out all the stops here with Krycek returning and both Mulder and Scully losing a family member. I absolutely loved the cameo from Deepthroat. Not as heavy emotionally as Dana's dad telling her to live, but the dialogue was sharper here, and I loved his message that finding answers in death but being unable to act on them would be a hollow victory for Fox. We're so used to thinking of aliens as being these sinister creatures abducting humans and having all sorts of nefarious plans. To see them begging to be let out of that box car certainly casts them in a different light. Are these related to the apparently peaceful aliens in Colony? With this English gentleman showing up, it feels even more like the greatest threats don't come from above, but right here on Earth. Skinner has been shifting toward being an ally to Mulder and Scully for a while, and I can't see him being a hitman. He has to walk a fine line, but I feel Scully is taking her (justified) paranoia out on Skinner. Also is that microchip left over from her abduction, or more recent? Can't wait for the resolution.

2021-09-11 09:02:27 +0000 UTCYup, the "Anasazi" trilogy, considered by so many (including myself) to be a masterpiece of television, not only limited to The X-Files. I'm very excited to see what your opinion will be of all three parts as a "whole" at the end of the next episode. You absolutely loved this one and were hooked to the screen just like the previous episode. I was especially enjoying your commentary at the end, as it was lengthier than usual, you analyzed pretty much everything in-depth. There was so much information, so many different elements, so many surprises (both good and bad), great stylistic choices as you pointed out, and then of course that cliffhanger at the end. Can't wait for part three! :)
