I love an unpopular opinion. Especially this one.

2021-09-06 02:56:26 +0000 UTCThis episode is a great example of why I just... don't get the Willow adoration. She has some selfish, snarky qualities and a pretty huge superiority complex. She's also majorly possessive of Xander, arguably more so than he ever was over her or Buffy. I don't understand why she gets a pass for that while he doesn't. It's been a gradual thing - she was my favourite character as a kid, and I do still like her - but every time I rewatch the show she pisses me off more. I think what makes it harder for me to forgive her faults is that they're so overwhelmingly ignored by the fandom, whose party line is basically that she can do no wrong. In other unpopular opinion news, I fucking adore Xander. Little, thoughtful moments like adding "Three favourite girls" when he realises he left Tara out just sums up what a decent dude he is at heart, despite his fuck-ups.

2021-09-03 04:50:48 +0000 UTCI always knew SMG was great in this role, but not until I started watching reactor videos have i realized just how absolutely phenomenal she was. Comedy, drama, etc. she nails it all. It's been a fun thing to really see through different eyes.

2021-09-03 03:11:49 +0000 UTCThat Buffy crying scene in the hallway with Tara is just so good... how does she make herself legitimately start balling as a joke? Like she's crying legit tears comedically... idk. Shit like that just blows my mind.

2021-09-03 02:58:38 +0000 UTCAn important line in Angel recently was when Angel said he wasn't capable of loving Darla while he was Angelus. I also forget where but it was said that the personality of the person who was sired does shape the vampire they become, even if their actions are driven by the demon. I don't think Spike "feels" love, I think he's acting through the motions of it. This idealized, romance novel version of love he aspired to as that awkward, wannabe poet so long ago. Granted that's also twisted by the fact that he's, well, Spike. In short, I think he knows what love is supposed to be to some extent, but I don't think he actually feels it, even if he wants to.

2021-09-02 20:07:46 +0000 UTCI wonder how FailWhale feels about Spike thinking he's in love with Buffy or something and trying to go after her or get her to like him. Who would have thought about that seasons ago? Does it feel wrong? Is it right? Is it just ridiculous, I wonder if he wants to see that happen, or not. I mean one thing we have to keep in mind about Spike, he doesn't have a Soul, he's still all a Vampire with no Soul, the demon, so can he really feel genuine love for someone? He wouldn't know how to act properly for sure. If you see this FailWhale, can you expand a little in your review cap at the end of a video what you think about this? I'm interested in your opinion of what you make of the whole thing.

2021-09-02 19:42:56 +0000 UTCEesh, Spike is awkward as all hell in this episode. Must have been some hilarious bloopers in the mannequin scene, but everything in the bar just makes me cringe. Trying WAY too hard. I always kind of shudder a few times while Xander is fighting the troll. I mean the hammer was probably some sort of foam core, rubber coated prop, but it's meant to be solid metal. That thing would probably weigh 60kg on the low end. Xanders skull would be caved in the way he was hit, and his arm would be shattered. Willow honestly seemed rather corrupt in this episode. Seems like her use of magic is going to her head. Even Tara wasn't on board with her. Also yes Willow, that's exactly what stealing is. Poor Buffy though, her breakdown in the hall was kind of funny, but also pretty sad.

2021-09-02 19:29:43 +0000 UTCThank you for the reaction. It does seem like Willow is getting a little cozy with the magics. Maybe a little too confident? Hrm. Overall I take this episode as a transition episode, to transition away from Riley and let Buffy recoup. It's a comedy episode, and it comes off that way, and I think it's executed well. Plus we learn how Anya became a vengeance demon now. I like Anya's and Xander's relationship as well, I see it as very genuine. The main plot is also driven forward with the idea of asking the Watchers to research Glory and Dawn over hearing the convo.
