Real world reason for this episode: We done with this Egypt stuff.

Solebat

The pyramid exploding shot (done with a miniature) I believe was the greatest amount of pyrotechnic explosives they had ever used in a single shot up until this point in the show. I remember watching the behind the scenes on the DVD.

Oliver

What can I say that hasn't already been said, nothing really, everyone above hit it nail on the head with the comments. So thank you for the reaction, loved you trying to figure stuff out and freaking out at each reveal. They really did dump a lot on you, considering this might have been THE END of Stargate SG1 as a show for real, would have been a bit of a hollow ending, and just a big info dump that is clearly setting us up for another season, man, if we never got t hat season it'd have been a tragedy, but luckily we did, and then some! So the big news here is obviously that the Ancients are the ascended beings, or the "other" ascended beings, there are multiple types cause Daniel was ascended, and he's obviously not an Ancient, so it's the others that ascended before him. He said they used to be human like us, then a plague spread throughout the galaxy and they learned how to Ascend past their human forms. They are the ones that invented the Stargates while in their human forms. Remember Orlin? He was ascended, and was able to build a Stargate at Sams house, remember? The clues have been there all along, you just couldn't connect the dots till now. You also have to think how the Hok'tar fits into it all. If Anubis could Ascend, maybe there is more to it than just releasing your burdens, cause a friggin Goa'uld Ascended. And now he's stuck between two worlds, part energy being part Goa'uld, or whatever. He lives on our plane, and I guess the Ancients/Ascended don't care enough to bother trying to fix it /shrug Look forward to whatever this "lost city" is all about.

Brent Justice

Which reaction is that?

Timothy Nikiforovs

Yeah giving Anubis that eye definitely wasn't one of ol' Danny boys best ideas. 🤦‍♀️ I'm glad at least Oma was like "God damnit Daniel! Alright, you're ALL coming with me! Fuck it." I do hope Skaara is chilling with his (hopefully ascended) betrothed though.

Lady Beyond The Wall

"Daniel gave them the referral code." Killin it with the quips for this one dude. My OG channel pick I can rely on to entertain me. 🙏🏻 I so needed this quality reaction this week, after an overly immature DW reaction. Were it was eye rolls, gagging gestures and snide comments every other time a certain character delivered a line. Thank the reaction gods for Failee McWhaleee. 🙏🏻🤣🤣🤣

Daryl

The ascension ponzi scheme had me in tears! 😂 It's a great finale, but I don't like that they blew up Abydos, and Daniel really fucked up by giving Anubis that eye. Can't wait for s7, it's one of the absolute best.

Teth

Good stuff bro and I'm just curious have you seen the show before or are you watching along with him and giving great reviews as you go?

Wesley pippin

Some very powerful heavy hitting episodes coming up for sure.

James Yancy

Bring on S7! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

*I assumed Oma ascended the Abydonians because it was Daniel's interference that got them to fight and incur Anubis wrath and get destroyed, and Daniel promised the abydonians with heaven for their service and death essentially Teal'c mentioning it specifically, why the ascended rules exist to not play god or interfere, Oma probably felt obliged to do so haha

Well that wraps up the first season the SciFi(or SyFy for those weirdos that prefer that spelling) channel did, and they really went for broke with this one. That pyramid explosion alone cost $150,000. Also that battle outside with all the al'kesh and gliders was pretty impressive, and I loved Teal'c's line to that one abydonian, "I am unsure of what you have been promised. But if you are not prepared to die, you should not be here". He's got too much to worry about to be giving people reassurances. But more so the lore developments in this one are huge. And our boy Danny just making the regular reappearances at this point. I love in the elevator scene how he turns around with this look on his face like "ahhh, I gotta play the small talk game before he'll listen to me". Also the way he points up when jack says his friend has ascended to a higher plane. Shanks does the best little mannerisms. Also it would have detracted from the seriousness of the ending, but imagine they go back to Abydos and everyone is wearing that same white sweater? It's curious that a goa'uld, especially one as vicious as Anubis, could ascend. Seems the process goes beyond purity of spirit and letting go of your burden. Also strange the others couldn't fully revert him. As Jack said maybe they just didn't care. At any rate he's far enough back to our plane that the others are letting him do whatever he wants. Add to that what is probably a very powerful ship on it's own, now with a nigh unstoppable superweapon, and he's shaping up to be perhaps the most dangerous goa'uld yet. I'm pretty sure he didn't actually destroy the planet, the weapon isn't that powerful, but he certainly nuked any life on it. Given what we saw in Frozen, and Window of Opportunity, and Ascension, the pieces were there to draw a connection between the ancients and the ascended beings, but it's nice to have confirmation. More interesting yet is the other bit of info on that tablet. All this talk of a lost city has "questing time" written all over it. Seems that'll be an important thread next season. Also nice to see Yu pop up again. You gotta admire the guy for not only holding out against Anubis and all the other system lords for over a year, but actually turning them against him as well. This guy is playing 3d chess while the rest are stuck on checkers. The ending, while somewhat alleviated by the fact that the Abydonians were ascended, but still there's this haunting finality to this episode. Skaara pretty much said he'd only see O'Neill again if/when he ascended(at least I read it that way). We didn't even see Kasuf one last time. All the abydonians are gone. The pyramid where it all started, the cartouche that let them start exploring the gate network, even the first stargate they linked to(after Ernest's planet) has all been wiped out. Add to that Daniel's fate is up in the air. We don't know what kind of time out he's gonna get. It's like they took every thread tying back to the movie and cut them all at once, save for O'Neill himself. The way he just says "let's go home" leaves you feeling so empty. Anyway, I love S7, so can't wait for that.

Timothy Nikiforovs

Wait...season 7? *thousand yard stare*

William Sevier

Next season is best season

ANIMEMUSE

Pretty big deal that the ascended beings were the gate builders. And that Lord Yu made an appearance. He's always a favorite. Can't believe we're already up to S7.

William Sevier

"I'm looking forward to season 7" - not as much as me buddy; to be honest that's such a big bomb drop I'm surprised you didn't drop a triple bubble. Maybe need time to process?

Martin Nicholls

My favorite very small moment in this ep is around 15:17 of this video when Daniel moves closer to the wall to read it and he motions to push up his glasses that he no longer wears. It's small, but a great decision by Michael or whoever suggested it.

indaeo

What do you mean ?

Thomas Thorburn

Fun Fact this was written as a series finale as they weren't sure if they were going to get picked up for a seventh season.

Thomas Thorburn

Not a spoiler... With the revelation that the "other" ascended beings = ancients, remember Orlin? Kinda makes sense now how it was ez for him to construct his own DIY stargate.

UKaiser98

Heads up, you may want to skip the intro for the first couple eps of S7. There's a few new scenes in there.

Timothy Nikiforovs

I'm pretty sure this last season (and beyond) is just Richard Dean Anderson preparing for a stand-up comedy career that never came to pass.

Season 7 time! 🚀
