Magic really isn't my thing, so I rank this episode pretty low. The reaction was fun to watch though I think it would've been better to have several Russian officers as part of regular SG teams, that way they will learn to do things the SGC way and become better integrated with the program plus they won't be able to execute secret orders easily. It was nice that the Russians weren't the bad guys this time, it's time everyone worked together.

Cassie had naquadah in her blood without ever having been a host, that's how she was able to sense Sam had Jolinar in her. I always wondered how the Goa'uld get the naquadah into their blood. They'd have to replenish it, just like every other micronutrient, but we don't actually see them doing it. Maybe they use naquadah fortified salt or something

Limi V

Also yeah it really sucked about Col. Evanov. Seemed like a genuinely good man. Shame O'Neill didn't acknowledge that until he was dead.

Timothy Nikiforovs

I dunno, looked like she was on the verge of pulling the water balloon routine herself. Also I wonder if there are humans that were never hosts that have naquadah in their blood, like after generations of slaves working a naquadah mine, does it work it's way into their blood like with the Asari and element zero in Mass Effect? I mean the goa'uld have to have gotten it into their systems as well somehow.

Timothy Nikiforovs

I think faily is in the minority for noticing it first time. Or maybe we are, but then again back in the day we were all watching on crappy, tiny CRT tvs.

Timothy Nikiforovs

Something I was thinking about while watching the reaction, Carter would be a bit of a unique specimen due to her having Naquadah in her blood. It might allow her DNA to be altered in some way that wouldn't affect her, would have been nice if she didn't suffer the same consequences and that was why.

Brent Justice

Yeah personally, I just assumed she didn't actually mess with Jonas's DNA at all, just saw differences and stopped. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Lady Beyond The Wall

I've seen this episode probably well over 15 times now at this point and I literally *never* noticed that extra eye on Wodan's head. It even moves around! I have no idea how I never noticed it before.

Lady Beyond The Wall

Also kinda funny you're not even 60% of the way through the show and already getting nostalgic about it being done. Still a ways to go yet, 17 seasons in all. And not to worry, I'm sure plenty more quality, classic shows will be recommended in the future.

Timothy Nikiforovs

could be, use Carter as a guinea pig first.

Timothy Nikiforovs

Maybe she didn't do the treatment on Jonas, just scanned him, found that out, and let him go, without doing her normal treatment. She probably would need to research her findings and figure out what the next step for Jonas would be, now that he's different, she thought she had time, but obviously not.

Brent Justice

Nirrti is indeed the longest lived Goa'uld at this point, at least if we count from her first mention/activity in Singularity, but if counting from her first in person appearance she's still beat out by Apophis. Tanith, Cronus, Hathor, Heru'ur, and Amaunet all lasted 1.5 to 2.5 years. Sokar was there less than a year, and Seth lasted all of 1 episode. Apophis had much better staying power at just over 4 seasons, but Nirrti lasted just shy of 5 seasons. With her death, Yu is now the system lord with the greatest staying power. At this point he's approaching Apophis' record. Remains to be seen how long Anubis, Ba'al and the other system lords introduced in Summit last. It's been over a year since we killed Tanith though, so we were due to put another mark on the scoreboard. A number of scenes and themes in this episode are very reminiscent of the original X-Men movie, especially the guy melting due to unstable mutations. Also props for spotting the eye on the back of buddy's head. I only noticed that for the first time on my last watch through of the series. Great work by the makeup department. Very interesting premise with the DNA manipulator, especially that Jonas is apparently more evolved or at least DIFFERENTLY evolved. For all we know the Kelownans genetics were altered back when the goa'uld on that planet was messing with naquadria. Residual radiation might have skewed their evolution. I was always curious to see what the machine would have said about O'Neill. Way back in The Fifth Race, the asgard at the end gently implied that O'Neill was more evolved than they expected of humans, having been able to use the ancients knowledge to seek them out. Also did they not unfuck Jonas' genes? Nirrti had him in that machine too. I mean obviously he wasn't having the side effects Carter did, so clearly she would get fixed first, but we see her treatment finish and then they just leave. Is he gonna grow an extra pair of arms and finally be able to take on Teal'c in the ring? I really feel like they should have fought to keep the machine, or at least convince Wodan and Eggar to give it to the asgard. Given their genetic problems due to cloning, it might be pretty crucial to them.

Timothy Nikiforovs

lol, that midriff after she zatted Carter though

Timothy Nikiforovs

Step on me, mommy Nirrti

TomΓ‘Ε‘ PolΓ‘k

should have given the machine to the asgard. Might help with their genetic problems

Timothy Nikiforovs

It does get a little repetitive though when we find some massive big technology leap that could help us, but it's just out of reach. It happens a lot. If this were the real world, no way the military would let a piece of tech like that get destroyed by these people, they'd be getting that and making sure they don't destroy it. So it's a little unrealistic.

Brent Justice

I assume she implied that MANY, if not all of them, of the segregated groups yeeted to other planets from Earth have started to vary ever so minutely (relatively speaking) in just a mere few thousand years or w/e.

Skebaba

what i love most is that ending, that somtimes there are always going to be times when the technology is beyond us or should remain out of our reach and show real wisdom by not complicating earth by acheiving massive genetic resequencing potential before earth was ready, its wise scifi, and it always makes me sad the Russians always get bodied, they always seem like noble soldiers and if aliens cant make us put our diffrences aside nothing will, give every country a sg team lmao, save some of that 9 billion a year to other countries. its aliens man, all human hands on deck.

brad hawkes

The important part I picked up from this is Jonas is somehow a more advanced human, from his people living on that particular planet for thousands of years, apparently, it changed their evolution slightly, or altered their DNA in some way living on that planet for so long, instead of Earth. This explains his ability to pick up things quicker. And it might not even be all his people on that planet, maybe just a few, random mutations and whatnot in a small populace occuring. If you notice the theme so far, we have the Hok'tar, and we have this idea of humans being able to advance or evolve past their current state into having more abilities, and even ascending to energy beings as Daniel did, with a little help there though. This also harkens back to the advanced human, or first iteration of human, they found in Antarctica, remember. The connections are coming together.

Brent Justice

The Buffy/Angel tandem was handled just fine. I trust in Faily's gurus.

Stef Furness

hello stargate fam hope had a great time with his family and can't believe were up too season 6 at end of season already . I was thinking about buying sg1 complete season they got a remastered version on amazon now and it says the first 7 seasons were filmed in standard def because hd was'nt out yet and the last 3 seasons are in hd mgm says they switched too hd so that be fun too watch when failwhale34 gets too season 8 we will be able too watch in hd.

Paul Carroll

im pretty sure hes not blind and has seen all the names of the spin offs

Magus

Sounds like it's covered, seems prudent not to discuss it further.

Kyle H

I just hope someone does inform him and let's him know when to start the series in tandem so he doesn't miss it.

Brent Justice

Understood, won't happen again.

Kyle H

I'm sure, by now, he is aware of the name, but timing is another issue. We're just not there yet. Better to keep lips zipped regarding anything past the current episode. This is Faily's request to ensure a pure reaction.

Stef Furness

He might know, but the rule is we act as if the recent reaction is as far into the franchise as we've seen. There are people to give him a heads up for stuff like that closer to when he needs to know. Welcome aboard

Timothy Nikiforovs

My bad.

Kyle H

I honestly hadn't considered that, but I don't think it is. It seems like a safe assumption that he's aware of the existence of the show and I think it'd be best to watch them in tandem. Also, I think Atlantis started after S7. If this ultimately proves to be a spoiler in any way, I do apologize, definitely not my intention.

Kyle H

Welcome to the party, Kyle H, but yeah, Noah is right - we don't discuss past the current episode here. That horizon is still a ways off.

Stef Furness

I think this counts as a spoiler

Noah ( J Holᐰ)

I think mad scientist goa'uld is my favorite goa'uld trope.

Sarahnade

Are you going to be watching Stargate Atlantis after S8 of SG-1?

Kyle H

Story by Jacqueline Samuda, who plays Nirrti!

Geonn Cannon

Let's FUCKing Go!
