personally i see the replicators as being like the cybermen in dr who in that they are created independently many different times through different causes with no knowledge of any of the other iterations of each other

2022-04-18 03:47:57 +0000 UTCI think the SGC messed up when they didn't try to call the Asgard as soon as they found those old replicator blocks. It was clear the replicators left Reese alone for some reason, and that's reason enough to involve the Asgard. The Asgard being unavailable was a little too convenient for the purposes of the plot since on previous occasions they picked up the "call" nearly instantly. I don't think Jack messed up. They had an android who [supposedly] accidentally destroyed the civilization that created them and was reckless and immature enough to repeat all of their mistakes. Jack was absolutely right to not entrust the fate of the entire planet to such a thing. I understand Daniel, but the risk was too high.

2022-01-16 20:35:05 +0000 UTCJust sat down to watch your reaction of the episode, great reaction, thanks. I think you pretty much got the gist of the episode. There you go, an origin story (maybe) for the replicators. We don't know that exactly, though this episode eludes to it, so she could be the origin, or just have played a part /shrug I like to keep an open mind as I'm sure we will learn more about the replicators. At any rate, she should be very useful for the Asgard to study in their fight against the replicators. I think what makes this episode really great is just the character acting and interaction here, very very strong.

2021-06-05 20:56:04 +0000 UTCActually great episode. Reece's child personality was a little annoying, but it's a good theme. Childishness + power = terrible consequences.

2021-06-05 10:26:45 +0000 UTCI knew I recognised the actress playing Reece - just googled to confirm but she plays Cecil in The Flash

2021-06-04 20:59:43 +0000 UTCI knew I know the replicator queen from somewhere. She’s Cecile from The Flash!

2021-06-04 20:55:42 +0000 UTCThis episode is a tough one. I can’t put my finger on what it is, but for me it just seems to lack something that the other episodes don’t. It seems to drag a little. In this way, it feels more like a S1 episode. But that’s just me. Maybe it’s because it’s surrounded by so many great episodes, it’s hard to stand out. That said, it does put an interesting twist on what we’ve learned about the replicators, and I never forgot the small exchange between Jack and Daniel at the end. Onwards toward season 6!
2021-06-04 18:46:54 +0000 UTCdon't read the comments for this ep. some ppl are going nuts on the spoilers

2021-06-04 18:39:16 +0000 UTCPretty big implications this episode. Not one of my favourites but it's not bad. Cool seeing Hammond get into the thick of the action for a change. It's rough seeing Daniel and Jack having this rift form between them. They've disagreed and been angry at each other before, but this felt worse. I see where Daniel is coming from, but O'Neill did what he had to. As you said, they can still study and learn from Reese, but they showed they were losing control and Jack wasn't wrong in pointing out that even 1 replicator getting out of the base basically means the end of life on Earth. I'd go into more in depth analysis, but this comment section is spoiler central so why bother.
Timothy Nikiforovs
2021-06-04 18:37:30 +0000 UTCI think that's a little harsh. Reese would have done no good if the replicators overwhelmed Earth and killed everyone.

2021-06-04 18:31:45 +0000 UTCdude learn how to reply properly, all this crap could've been in a single comment thread but you don't know how to reply to its spread out across like 5+ different threads, fucking cancer

2021-06-04 18:26:57 +0000 UTCYeah you literally just can't help yourself. It doesn't matter what you think is a spoiler. The rules have always been we don't talk about things past the episode he's watching. You've been here long enough that you should know these rules by now, but apparently not.
Lady Beyond The Wall
2021-06-04 18:02:24 +0000 UTCthe rules are the rules. Don't discuss anything past the current episode period. Enough with the spoilers Take this discussion to the discord

2021-06-04 17:55:00 +0000 UTCI don't agree with that sentence one bit, nor do I understand what you're on about.

2021-06-04 17:48:04 +0000 UTCDude. When you want to bitch about a plot hole from the other show, WAIT FOR THE OTHER SHOW. Until then, there is no reason the replicators couldn't have come from this galaxy to the Asgards considering there are ships that can come and go between galaxies. It would also make sense that they had to stop caring so much about the Goa'uld to focus on the replicators in their galaxy because the replicators came after the Goa'uld started fucking over our galaxy and transplanting humans. So it makes sense the replicators are newer for the Asgard then the Goa'uld are.
Lady Beyond The Wall
2021-06-04 17:23:02 +0000 UTCYou were literally just talking about A PLOT from the other show. I don't care if he knows the name by now. He doesn't know LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE about that show though besides possibly the name! You even mentioned the other Galaxy's name man, and got other people to start talking about plots from the other show. Come on.
Lady Beyond The Wall
2021-06-04 17:21:06 +0000 UTCCan someone let Fail know not to read this comment section? Someone's going around spoilering up the comments about the other show.
Lady Beyond The Wall
2021-06-04 17:15:56 +0000 UTCBut how does that conflict? It is unknown what exact year Reese's planet was destroyed nor is there an exact year given for when the Asgard began to face them. All we know is that both events happened hundreds or thousands of years ago. nor does it say where in our galaxy her planet is, so it could reasonably be closer to Asgard space, or they could have fled to Asgard space to spread. Likewise, it was previously confirmed the Asgard come from the Ida and Othala galaxies, not Pegasus. It's okay if you don't like the episode or where they took the replicators... but it doesn't conflict with canon, because the canon was left intentionally vague.

2021-06-04 17:00:52 +0000 UTCWhere does it say recently, or that the replicators were an ancient foe of the Asgard? We don't know how they ended up in the Ida galaxy, but it's possible they just detected the more advanced technology or hitched a ride on a ship passing through the milky way.

2021-06-04 16:47:27 +0000 UTCOh I definitely think Jack messed up here. But its a recurring theme that Jack's gung-ho american soldier personality and beliefs cause more problems then they solve. Hell, there are several episodes where its clear the episode would have ended in five minutes and happily if Jack would just shut-up sometimes and listened to Sam and Daniel more. Usually its when Jack's pro-human pro-america bigotry takes over and acts like a stubborn ass. Honestly Sam, Teal'c and Daniel should be making all the team's decisions not Jack IMO.

2021-06-04 16:36:43 +0000 UTCPersonally one of my favourite episodes of the show, and it's an especially interesting twist that quite possibly the biggest threat in the Stargate universe were originally...toys. Back in the season 3 finale, I remember you saying 'oh my god, they're LEGOs'...which is quite accurate after this episode. They're basically evil LEGOs when you think about it.
