For me this episode is finally the explanation to how Zhann reacted at the begin of S2. That felt so off back then and now it becomes more understandable. But yeah that episode should have been put closer to the start of the season. The previous commenter mentions that this was originally planned as start of S2 and then it would have been more exciting as you wouldn't already know what happened to the trio. But i can see why they didn't do that in the end. But then it should have been the 2nd or 3rd episode. The story was pretty unoriginal one might call it boring.

I'm a little late to the party, but originally this episode was the season premiere. It was decided though that people would want to know what happened to Crichton, D'argo & Aeryn so they skipped to Mind the Baby & rather then make a new episode they shot the bookends of Crichton & Zhann while cutting out a few minor scenes to fit the allotted time The original title for the episode was called Re:union & was put on dvd's & blu-rays in it's original form as an extra

Retro Tom

God I forgot how bad this one was... that was painful to get through lol

Coeus

But yeah, this was very much a filler episode in the fullest sense. Someone on the writing staff actually wrote the story intending it to be the season premiere (where it belongs chronologically), which obviously would have been a TERRIBLE opener. Later on they were short an episode, so they added the framing device and threw it in.

I think it's a good indication how thoroughly "checked out" on this episode you were that there was a full-on Zhaan-Da'argo kiss tease and you literally did not react to it, lol. And rightly so

Ray Nothnagel

Dream a Little Dream huh? Fitting given it damn near put me to sleep. Courtroom episodes can be great, Star Trek has several such examples, and Cor-Ai on SG1 was great, but this is just lame.

Timothy Nikiforovs

One of my least favorite episodes. Just holding out for S2E11 - the beginning of my favorites in the series!

I remember sitting through this episode thinking “there has to be something I’m missing”. And I’m still not catching it. Definitely feels like an episode where they had too much footage from episode 1 and didn’t want it to go to waste.

Erin Ragsdale

I agree. Zhaan's never been a favorite of mine, so I mostly thought it was my own bias that made me feel this way. I will say that the parts with Zhaan talking to John, D'Argo, and Aeryn were the best parts for me. Otherwise, yeah, a dud.

indaeo

I'm with you. I got bored and actually started watching cats do funny things videos on YouTube instead. lol

Yeppers, every show has it's off-episodes. There were moments in this that were ok but you covered that lol. I seem to remember most shows from this era had to have a 'courtroom' episode as staple, some shows did it better than others, unfortunately as you pointed out, there were no stakes due to us already knowing the outcome. Enjoying your reactions more and more as time goes on :) you are one of just 2 I subscribe to here on Patreon. Cheers x

Thank you for your reaction. I had fogotten this episode even exists, I honestly don't remember seeing it, which means I must have also just skipped this episode on re-watches, and well forgotten it exists even after my first time watching the series, lol. I'll go along with you, the episode felt out of place. I like your analogy that it felt like watching a parody of everyone, or like watching from the outside. I'm not sure what was going on either. All I can say is, every series has its duds, so just have to look on past them. There is one thing worth noting, this planet did seem very advanced and populated. So far, we've been in the uncharted territories, and so we haven't seen a lot of planets quite like this. You have to imagine the solar systems in the more populated regions, not on the outskirts, would be pretty populated and advanced. This shows there can also be some very advanced worlds on the outskirts still. Shows the level of technology that exists in this part of space at least. But yeah, this one is a pass for me too.
