Yea imo this one is one of the most underrated episodes of the whole series. A lot of debate was had about if it made sense for Angelus to appear if the happiness was synthetic... that stance being that Angelus only appears if the soul is removed, but he still had his soul here. So the worry was they were ruining the continuity of the show. The counter argument would be that since he didn't lose his soul, he never was Angelus, and all we were seeing was the demon inside getting free from his leash for a little while. Either way, I think it was really well done, well acted, and delivered some solid truth bombs. Charisma acting like Cordy who can't act, then acting like Cordy that can act, is some of Charisma's best stuff imo.

2021-05-15 13:02:27 +0000 UTCIMO, this is where the series finally finds it footing. I absolutely love this episode, and from here till the season end are just BANGERS, If you liked this one, you're gonna really enjoy the rest of the series, minus a few short stumbles and one REALLY BAD arc that they recover from, mostly. Enjoy the ride.

2021-05-13 11:22:25 +0000 UTCI'd pretty much forgotten this episode. Now I remember thinking back in the day just as I did on this watch that the Angelus transformation was just an act to scare her off from wanting to become a vampire. Gotta say though, while Charisma did a good job acting out a LACK of acting talent, David playing Angel turned to Angelus mimicking Charisma playing Cordy acting poorly takes true skill. I also really enjoy the humor in this episode. The opening scene is brilliant, Angel copying Rebecca's "stay" to Wesley and Cordelia was pretty good, and of course Cordelia being desperate for fame led to a lot of laughs as well. Also it has to be said, this show really makes a habit of taking characters from Buffy and making them better than they were on that show. Angel is the obvious one, but Wesley is really growing by leaps and bounds as a character. Even Cordelia who was already fairly well developed on Buffy has more room t grow here.

2021-05-08 18:13:38 +0000 UTCI also really enjoyed this one. The subject was a bit more grounded than usual so it hit a little harder. It's the first time we've seen Angel wanting to be close to someone again. Quite a sad story.

2021-05-08 09:31:26 +0000 UTCOk, finished watching your reaction. Going in, I wasn't too interested in the episode, I knew what was coming, but it's an episode I usually skip. I was fearing it would be a boring reaction for me. However, you made it worth it. It also shows one new fact, drugs can remove or reduce Angel's inhibitions and allow Angeles to come out, not a true transformation, but enough anyway, temporary, and allows his evil to come out for a while. That's an interesting new thing.

2021-05-08 02:14:24 +0000 UTCI'm watching your reaction right now, thanks for it. I'm at the part where Angel barged into her house and got the ninja. So, um, continuity error? Cause he was able to enter her home without being invited.
