Did you recognize Maybourn (a officer) from Stargate SG-1

This 2 parter is such a memorable part of the show. I don't know about best or biggest implications, but it was definitely ballsy. I mean the show has a tiny primary cast of 2 people, so to put the fate of one so heavily in question is a rather daring move. I remember as a kid that I was shocked they'd go so far as to end the episode with Scully just gone. The anxiety waiting to see the resolution on that was unreal. So 2 things I take away from this ep. First, while its easy to just write Krycek off as a bad guy(and he still is, insofar as he's willing to kill to follow his shady master's orders), I don't think that's the whole truth of it. In particular, I don't think he wanted Mulder dead. I think there's still part of him that respects Mulder. Maybe it's just me, but I read the scene as him seeing that Mulder was going to try anything to get up that mountain even if it killed him. I think in his mind he knew Mulder would either be able to climb the cable and make it up anyway, or he'd fall to his death, but either way he wouldn't just stay put in the cable car, so he decided to start it back up before he got on the cable. To me he seemed relieved after Mulder managed to climb back up, so I think Mulder falling was unintentional. Second, Skinner has been on the fence to whether or not he was an ally to Mulder. When he says he's reopening the X Files and that that's what they really fear, I get goosebumps because not only is the titular department reopened and Mulder is back in business, but also because despite losing his friend and partner and having Krycek turn on him, he now has someone else in his corner. Skinner finally backing Mulder is a definite win, and the man needed one at this point. Also around 25 minutes in, Agent Manspreader much😂. On behalf of the men in the world, you done us proud Mr Duchovny. That's a Riker level sit down right there.

Also Mulder's new contact is played by the same guy as Gen. Vidrine from Tangent and Absolute Power

This two-parter was spectacular. This was and remains one of the best use of unexpected pregnancy on a tv show. Murder was ready to do anything to save Scully at the cost of his own life. The x-files are reopened!

Lol, very clever way of handling the baby bump

What a treat to have this episode early! So much good in this one between Mulder, Duane Barry, Skinner and Scully's mom. My favourite part is that little moment between Mulder and Scully's mom in the beginning when she says she dreamed about Dana and came over. Usually the supernatural stuff in the show are monumental and scary things, but this is just a mom sensing that her child is in danger. The song playing in Duane's car is Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and that was Colonel Makepeace pulling them over!

Such a great episode. Duchonvy acting his heart out. And a beautiful (if open-ended) finish. These last 2 episodes really set the bar high. Can't wait to see more!

"As of right now I'm reopening the X-Files..." Great episode... great reaction/review. Deny everything. ;)
