2021-04-24 05:43:43 +0000 UTCFor what it’s worth, I like Forrest. I think he’s hot. I think he has a crush on Riley. I think Xander does too. I find the Initiative story entertaining despite its flaws. I think the cyborg demonoid is an interesting change of pace. It’s all silly, but then I see Buffy the VS as more of a comedy with drama than the other way around. If I had a complaint, it would be with Spike reduced to the role of meddling neighbor in a supernatural sitcom.

He's constantly making baseless, leading accusations. Even after Angleman conceded it was likely the polgara that killed Walsh, Forrest still gives Riley stink eye. The guy was talking like he was a coroner who had done an in depth autopsy and found wood splinters, when the wound was too narrow and a straight through deal at that. You'd be real hard pressed to get wood at that diameter to punch through a spine and a sternum without shattering. And he always qualifies his accusations with a "wouldn't you say, brother?". Very manipulative. The guy needs a good punch in the face IMO. Also I gotta cann bullshit on the conversation with the kid. I was terrified of garbage trucks at that kids age(maybe a bit younger, and ironically I ended up working on them for years). There's no way a kid is going to casually engage in a conversation on the nature of existence with Frankenstein's monster. MAYBE if he thought it was a costume, but that clearly wasn't the case. Anyway the whole "taking someone apart to see how they work" thing was done better on The Expanse. Also I can't help but think it would be hilarious if he ended up putting one of those discs in his floppy drive thing only to find out it's one of the Initiative guy's secret porn stash.

2021-04-18 11:21:29 +0000 UTCI laughed so loud at the bits where you were doing the voiceovers for Riley. I agree it's a bit goofy in parts. The serious parts don't land well, probably because Riley is kind of hard to empathize with so his very serious moments come across kind of hmm... over the top? I mean, the whole idea of the monster here is a bit over the top, and it kind of just makes everything else seem absurd. lol.

For the first time ever watching this ep (and i've seen it a lot) the disks he inserted into himself were actually mini-CD's. However, the drive that's in him looks just like a standard floppy disk reader, but the way it inserted and fed it in automatically is a CD type thing lol, doesn't quite match, I found that funny. But yeah, let's just call him floppy disk dude lol, most do, but now I know what they actually are when I looked closer. So we learned a lot about Riley here, the meds basically conditioned him, made him a little stronger, but now he's off them, explains his behavior a bit, he was conditioned. But I'm glad that he's just human and not a clone or a robot or something weird. Just a human. Spike is learning that fighting for the good side means, well, the bad side aint gonna like him so much. Interesting. Can't wait for the next ep.
