I have to admit, a big part of the reason I don't rewatch this episode very often is how much of an ass Cassie is to Janet, lol. I remember being a young girl, but damn, I don't like seeing Janet hurt. :(

I think this episode is "just ok" to most people, but fortunately "just ok" is about the worst SG1 S5 ever gets. What probably drags it down is how much of a brat Cassandra was being. I know she's a teenager here but damn. Still it is an important episode for worldbuilding. Now we know human evolution can be accelerated to produce essentially superpowers, even if it's a risky proposition, and Nirrti made it clear she'd try again. Part of me agrees with Teal'c though. While they saved Cassandra, how many more kids will she experiment on now that she's free? At least they got her cloak to play around with. I like Hammond's bewildered look when O'Neill is going on about magnets, and that defensive little "they do look like....horses" at the end. Cassandra made a good observation though, namely that Jack is much smarter than he pretends to be. Also good observation on the TER sweeps of the gate room. That is indeed a plot hole. If nothing else this was a good episode for Janet. Love when she went all mama bear on Nirrti and Hammond basically said "I ain't getting between you two"

also when Daniel asks what hok'taur means and he just says "I have not heard that word in many years", and completely fails to answer the question. Teal'c has no shits to give, lol

This is an interesting episode lore-wise. Nirti was trying to genetically alter humans to "advance" them in evolution. This indicates, humans maybe have the potential to evolve past their current state? Of course, for Nirti, the experimentation was a failure because everyone died, they couldn't take it. However, some form of advancement did occur, such as her ability to control things with her mind, to an extent, plus the manipulation of EM fields. It's just, her body couldn't take the strain. But Nirti seems to think humans have an evolutionary potential to tap into anyway. It would just take generations to pass it down. So this is very interesting. And I do like the new actress for Cassandra, hint, we've seen her in a past episode of SG1, the one where Teal'c was turning into a bug. I think she did fine.

Hammond’s warning that the woman with a gun on Nirrti was Cassandra’s mother reminded me of a scene from Doctor Who about the lengths a mother will go to protect her children.

For some reason, that's my favorite part of this episode, lol. Just the way Teal'c says it is hilarious to me.

Lady Beyond The Wall

*Teal'c's little "what do you think it is for" and O'Neill's disgust reaction in throwing the gadget down always cracked me up - also one of my favorite Janet eps <3

Not a favorite of mine, usually skip on rewatches. But I am always happy to get any SG episode (since I basically check multiple times a day, embarrassingly, lol) and closer to the gems. Like I'm digging in Minecraft.

Lady Beyond The Wall

When in doubt: binge more Stargate.

I actually love this episode. Seeing the Team caring for cassandra was really well done. And I really liked the overall plot. I don't know if you noticed but the actress for cassandra was the same actress from the episode where tealc turned into a Bug Thing. ^^ She helped him stay hidden. The original actress didnt have time because she was starring in a movie or series at the time.

Awesome. More stargate. Love these episodes. I like that they actually brought back a loose end for this episode. I feel like they accumulate a few loose ends before the end.

William Sevier

Not the best episode but I need my stargate fix
