2021-03-26 19:33:06 +0000 UTCClassic S5 episode. So much going on in this one. The action was on point here, some of the better firefights so far. I also like how resourceful Jack was in defending his position and taking down the glider, and Teal'c has a new toy now. Running around with the jaffa bazooka. Simmons is up to his shit again, and clearly is the new "government antagonist" at this point. Honestly he seems like the worst of the bunch thus far. Samuels and Maybourne never had SG1 or the SGC's best interest at heart, and at times took action harmful to them, but Simmons seems to be gunning for them right out of the gate. I took Hammond's dialogue in this episode to imply that he at least suspects Kinsey is holding Simmons' leash. Also I lol'd at Daniel's "someone ELSE doesn't exist". I agree though that what stands out most about this episode is SG1(especially O'Neill's) good will despite finding out they'd been tricked. I mean if this happened on the X-Files, they'd have captured the guy and shipped him off to area 51 to do what the Jaffa were planning to, and as a general rule most depictions of the military would still consider what he did a hostile act. SG1 though not only forgives having their memories altered and having been manipulated into helping a stranger, but even after knowing the truth still put their lives on the line to save them. I love moments like that on this show. Next one was kinda "meh" to me growing up, but when I rewatched it last year it stood out as one of my favorites from the season. Looking forward to that.
