This ep was just too much fun. The supernatural elements in the show offer so many avenues to just turn the whole world of the show upside down. I mean Spike and Buffy of all people getting together is just too weird and funny. I love how much Giles just couldn't deal with it. Honestly S4 Giles is probably my favourite version of the character; the unemployed middle aged bachelor who just doesn't care anymore as he navigates his midlife crisis. Perfect setup for his english snark to shine through. And frickin Amy, she's gotta be pissed right now. So close to being human again and 2 seconds later it's gone. Also it's great how much tension was building up during Willow's meeting with D'Hoffryn only to immediately deescalate with what amounts to "welp, job offer stands, call us if you change your mind".

Every scene between Buffy and Spike, even before the spell are perfect. Amy appearance for just one second. Giles “it’s alright, I’ve got more scotch” D’Hoffryn reaction when Willow refuses his offer “here is my medallion, give us a chant”. And so much more.
