I think the issue with this episode is that it's very much an early S1 episode on a S4 budget. These kind of weird little one off mysteries that aren't tied into overall continuity very much are very reminiscent of the earliest days of the show. At this point though, SG1 has evolved so much past that and going back to a story like this feels anachronistic. It's kind of like if you're playing an RPG, and you go back to the starting town/planet and do one of the earliest side quests that you put off while you're in the middle of solving the main quest and you've leveled up and gained equipment far past what you were intended to have when you faced that quest. It just feels out of place at this point in the show. But if this had been in S1, it would have worked much better I think. Also while Daniel tells Hammond that he's missing the point(and granted he was being influenced by the technology), I love how Hammond responds. He doesn't raise his voice, he doesn't get mad, he just firmly tells him "don't come up in my house and tell me what time it is, son". In terms of addiction I thought Need was a more effective episode, but that's just me. I did like the ending with O'Neill and Loren. It was sad but kinda wholesome. I guess he'll get adopted like Cassandra. Also when O'Neill sent Teal'c back, all I could think was "no vacation for you". The next couple eps are pretty good, but the last 2 are amazing. Season 5 is gonna be a blast.

2021-02-20 10:25:06 +0000 UTCNot sure if I liked this episode. It had some good moments but overall it was just subpar. Also, the "kid" kind of acts creepy throughout the episode. And he doesn't look like a kid at all. Definitely not a great episode. On to the next one!

2021-02-18 20:45:31 +0000 UTCYou gotta admit, it was a little slow of them to not think the light was a problem for a long while, took them too long to figure that out knowing all they know at this point in the series.

2021-02-18 14:33:27 +0000 UTCI'm in the like it camp. I wouldn't say it comes close to making it in any sort of top episode charts. But I do enjoy the themes and like always, the acting from the main cast and in particular the emotional scene Loran and Jack.

2021-02-18 11:12:07 +0000 UTCI'm surprised people dislike this one. I enjoyed the darker themes of depression and addiction, the mystery, and some of the more emotional scenes. For me it's always been an enjoyable one-off episode

2021-02-18 08:28:39 +0000 UTCI actually like this episode a lot. The Main story is interesting. Laurens acting and story catched me. I don't mind it being a filler or anything. I just really like it. :)

2021-02-18 07:37:12 +0000 UTCOk, I watched it, I guess it's a pretty forgettable episode. Doesn't really lead to anything, just kind of there. I can see why it wouldn't be popular. I guess the biggest thing is just a little world expanding for the Goa'uld universe.

2021-02-18 02:00:18 +0000 UTCFor a moment I thought that was Peeta from Hunger Games. It's not, but I found out the actor playing him was actually 23 when they shot this. Maybe it's the attitude, but he certainly doesn't seem that old. Then again, there's also not too many younger actors on this show that I like to begin with... maybe 2, no more than 3, total.

2021-02-17 23:18:36 +0000 UTCIs this the episode someone here was saying they thought was a pretty bad ep this season? I'm about to watch the reaction, I really have forgotten what I thought about it seeing it before, so I"ll see what I think after watching it.
