2021-02-12 22:50:10 +0000 UTCDid I not call the Last Airbender connection? Actually this episode predates ATLA if I'm not mistaken, so if anything they aped SG1. Also those 2 guards who dropped their guns at the end knew what was up. They read the Kheb mission reports and weren't feeling getting all crispy and overdone. Such a good episode! Always great to see Shanks flex his acting chops. He really is good at playing the bad guy when need be. And I agree SG1 is very clever with these alternate future episodes(and just coming off 2010 as well). Obviously if they really could get that tech it would take a lot of the tension out of the show. They're gonna have to work up to it. I also loved how Daniel actually took the lesson Shifu was teaching him to heart and didn't fight it. Over the first few seasons Daniel has slowly leaned more and more into a spiritual side of the character, and this was a big step in that direction. As he said, he's starting down a new path, one that started with the death of his wife, but which he wasn't quite ready to start down until now. Good to catch up with Shifu and especially seeing that he ascended and became an energy being, you know he's alright and doesn't have to worry about the goa'uld or anyone else chasing him. Also good to see Aldwin back, even if he wasn't given much. Most tok'ra have an infuriating arrogance to them, but he's alright. Just wish they'd squeezed in a scene of him and Teal'c kinda sharing a head nod or something, just to show they're cool after the whole Sokar situation. And we get another appearance of one of the show's most memorable pieces of music, with the Oma Desala/Ascension theme. Always makes a scene more powerful. Joel Goldsmith was definitely a chip off the old block.

But I love this episode and now that we've come to the back-end of S4 I'm really looking forward to more because man are there some bangers coming.
