On another reaction of this episode, I read a comment by someone that put forth the idea, do you think the whole idea behind saying Buffy likes cheese has anything to do with her time as a rat in season 2. xD

2021-02-13 01:55:05 +0000 UTCWhile I did like Oz, and never really understood why they wrote out his character, adding Spike to the main cast was a brilliant move. This chip they put in him to stop him from hurting people was also brilliant. Of course they're still going to have to find an excuse for Buffy not to kill him since he's practically defenseless and just tried to kill Willow. I do like the idea of the Initiative, since it's rather implausible that so much supernatural activity could go on in 1 town and nobody notices. When I first watched the show, Riley and the others being members of the organization caught me a bit off guard, but it made sense when you realize they don't serve much other purpose on the show. The scene with Willow and Spike was seriously dark, but somehow it worked as humor as well. Probably some combination of the on the nose performance anxiety parallel, and the fact that Willow(adorable as ever) is actually TRYING to help him figure out why he can't bite her. Anyway it feels like the prologue for S4 is done and we're getting into the meat of the season now.

2021-02-11 10:28:34 +0000 UTC"There's something off about her..." "Maybe she's Canadian!" I have no idea why that line made me laugh so much, but it did.

2021-02-11 09:04:07 +0000 UTCRead some pretty horrifying things about Joss Whedon today. Always knew he was an entitled jerk but man oh man am I mad at him right now. With that said, I like this episode. I think it's sweet the way Riley's friends both know he likes Buffy and they keep trying to give him hints that he obviously likes her, but he's so oblivious he doesn't notice. Love having Spike back. He's such a douchebag, he's practically an Always Sunny character. Willow's speech to Riley is great, and Xander and Giles are funny together, and the fight between Xander and Harm is gold. I honestly think the way they introduced the initiative over several appearances over a number of episodes with multiple characters calmly hiding in plain sight in the cast is one of the best reveals I've ever seen. Just in general lots of great stuff. great breakdown at the end.

2021-02-11 04:37:04 +0000 UTCThis episode is super underrated imo. The Xander/Harmony slowmo fight scene, Spike's inability to perform with Willow, and the entire Initiative reveal... I mean these are all awesome moments. And like Mr. Whale said, it's interesting to see Buffy from an outsider's perspective. Cool to see Parker get hit again too... that's always nice. Bonk.
