2021-01-10 01:07:09 +0000 UTCAccording to Joseph Mallozzi, who co-wrote this episode with Paul Mullie, the original pitch for this episode had a much darker ending. If I recall correctly, the original idea was for Lotan himself to blow up the ship at the end, ending the Gadmeer civilization and the episode finished with Daniel sitting alone in his office listening to their music. Would have made for a bittersweet episode for sure.

2021-01-09 22:42:43 +0000 UTCI think I feel about this one the same way you did about The First Ones. I don't dislike it, but it's not my favourite either. It has some good moments for sure, such as when Daniel is arguing that rebuilding the gadmeer civilization on an act of mass murder would betray what they stood for. Overall though it's pretty "meh" for me.

2021-01-09 16:09:13 +0000 UTCI don't know if you noticed, but a few episodes ago they were briefly talking about the Enkarons in the gate room while preparing to leave on a different mission. It was basically a foreshadow of this episode.

2021-01-09 15:13:24 +0000 UTCFun fact: at 18:33 you can actually see director Martin Wood doing a cameo as Major Wood while talking to Sergeant Siler on the stairs lol he actually does quite a few cameos throughout the show, so it's always fun to try to spot him in the episodes he directs!
