2020-12-31 11:59:16 +0000 UTCI'm so excited to start this journey! I never got into Buffy but I lived and breathed Angel in high-school and haven't watched most of the show since. The fact that Angel and Buffy were able to hold their own fan bases speaks to how they're both excellent shows in their own right. They didn't just make the same show twice but gave ATS it's own identity, atmosphere and sense of humour which will develop as the show goes in. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as you have Buffy.

2020-12-31 07:56:23 +0000 UTCIt's not the grandest pilot episode, and the stakes(heh, geddit) aren't all that high, but it does a decent job setting up the premise of the show and distinguishing the direction Angel is going in as a character from the dead end he'd reached on buffy. Also I assume people told you to skip the intro to avoid spoiling Cordelia appearing, as I don't remember much else that was spoilery beyond some random action/establishing shots. Anyway I prefer the theme to Angel over Buffy, it's got more nuance I guess you could say. Best line of the episode had to be "really, can you fly?". You just know what he's going to do, but it's still so satisfying. Also if these reactions are gonna keep getting titled Angle, there's gonna have to be a geometry joke worked in at least once per episode. Lastly, a convertible has got to be the worst choice of car for a vampire. Spike was a slob, but at least his choice in vehicles was practical.
