Once again he's not wrong about where their priorities should be, but as usual he's also not being very diplomatic about it. Also it's not his fault the council wouldn't play ball. Regarding the whole slayer's blood cure, one other solution would be to get a few litres of whatever blood type Buffy has(probably have to steal it from a blood bank) and basically swap out. Of course that wouldn't make for the same level of drama. Also little trivia, the spider legs the mayor was eating were actually black licorice that was specifically formed into that shape for the scene.
