I always tear up during the Jack and Sam part. That music gets me every time! As far as being something "big" enough to mess with what's basically a conscious/subconscious lie detector, I definitely think it was big enough to cause it to think their stories weren't straight. Both Jack and Sam made it sound like "I told him to leave, we heard Jaffa and then welp, there went the force field!" when both Jack and Sam *knew* Jack was going to either save her or die with her and why (which is probably partly why there are strict rules regarding military relationships). Freya made a point to be specific about their feelings during the event.

I should point out that if you're not familiar with U.S. Military rules; a superior officer *cannot* date or be romantically involved with a subordinate. You can google "Fraternization in the Military" to find a couple articles that better explain the rules and exceptions to this. Bottom line is romantic relationships formed within a operational unit between a superior and a member of lower rank would meet the criteria for a court martial: "... compromised the chain of command, resulted in the appearance of partiality, or otherwise undermined good order, discipline, authority, or morale." -- Article 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice

You know I always looked back and remembered Martouf as a fairly integral character, but he's actually only on the show for a season and a half. Shame we lost probably the most trustworthy tok'ra next to Jacob/Selmak. Speaking of which Anise wasn't horrible here. Reckless in her pursuit of zatarcs perhaps, but they toned down the manipulativeness quite a bit, and she seemed genuinely concerned for the people the SGC lost. This brainwashing thing is something they'll have to keep an eye on going forward. I thought they handled the outing of Sam and Jack's feelings pretty well. It does get me in the feels a bit when that music kicks in and he says "because I care about her.........a lot more than I'm supposed to". They've been teasing it since Solitudes, so at least now it's properly acknowledged. As they said though, as long as they're both in the military and serving together, it's not gonna be a thing. "yup, I think these are the Jack O'Neill moments I would probably miss the most." "...........what?" "What?" I love how the writers on this show always worked in those awkward little nuggets of every day conversation. One of the things that makes SG1 feel so authentic. Also next ep is one of the best. Really fun
