RIP Merlin 11 :(

Yeah, Uther's apologies are definitely starting to ring very hollow now

Shame about the ep11 reaction. Just watched it and it's a good episode. It did feel like Arthur regressed a bit as a character at points, much like how the Moya crew seemed to in the ep where they cut Pilot's arm off, but here it felt like it was more done to contrast Arthur's own self examination and show growth. This one was kind of a tease. As you say Uther will have to go at some point, but they REALLY brought it right to the edge here. RIP to Gwen's dad. Buddy was just trying to make a living. You'd figure Uther could at least come down to banishment for accomplices, especially unwitting ones.

Shame about ep11 but these things happen. Caught up on Netflix before hand so now on to ep12. I liked how this episode was building to some massive plot shift. I also liked that I couldn't predict precisely what was going to happen. I know a little bit about Arthurian legend but am not sure where they are necessarily going with some of these plot points. I do like that, keeps my interest fresh. However I'll be honest, in the moment I was a bit deflated when they went back to the status quo. But on reflection as the episode was ending, I did appreciate what Gaius said about Arthur not being ready to be king. I'm guessing we are in for the long haul with that one. I am getting a bit tired however of the rinse repeat of Uther's outburst and apology cycle. I'd like to see a bit of a change up with this formula. Hoping for a tasty finale next.

Pity about the unicorn episode, it's one of my favourites, but at least it's on netflix so people can catch up easily. But this is another interesting episode! There's so much friction between Uther and Morgana. Despite that Arthur's his real son, Morgana is actually more like Uther in terms of temper and sheer ruthlessness. That scene between Merlin and Gwen was great as well. Merlin's been getting a bit too trigger happy! I also think Gaius was right that Arthur isn't ready to be king at this point. As we saw in the last episode, he still has some growing to do. Also is Gaius the only one in the kingdom who actually likes Uther?

A good episode of season 1 pity the reaction didn't work out as a reactor myself I know the pain that can cause.
